    Mr. Hubba:

Mr. Hubba is an experimental music project formed by Guille Martorell in 2003, in Barcelona. Mr Hubba creates probing lo-fi electronica and hypnotic soundscapes armed only with a 4-track cassette machine, a casiotone, a guitar, and various effects.

Martorell, has built up an impressive gig resume worldwide since Mr. Hubbas inception, having played at the Noisefest 2004 in Sacramento, concerts in Spain and the USA, and has toured Japan with Yoshio Machida (November 2004). He will also be playing at Tate Britain on 4th March, in the middle of a mini-European tour.

Live, he is usually accompanied by his monkey, el MonoInventor, who plays synths and Theremin and laptop.

    United Bible Studies:

Originally formed as a duo with an unhealthy desire to emulate the incredible string band, UBS have quickly evolved into a collective which has laid the groundwork for the deserted village label and events. Since their formation in winter 2001 they have played and recorded sporadically-never settling on one recording method, never settling on one line-up. The forthcoming album "the sorrowful mysteries of..."shows a love of the unadorned beauty of Shirley Collins, Anne Briggs and vashti Bunyan as well as the work of Current 93, Coil and sol invictus. Sparse folk sidles up to a more melodic take on free Improv and tales of loss and pagan longing abound. If they could exist anywhere, they would be playing in the green man when Sergeant Howie arrives.
Live shows in Dublin, Galway and Ballymahon have seen them wildly improvise with up to twelve members or play straight trad as a trio. Their philosophy is that all paths are equal, all approaches relevant. Members have often met on stage for the first time. Standard rock instrumentation is bolstered with Theremins, fretless banjos, accordions, bugles... whatever comes to hand...

Since their sun worship ritual at The Mór Festival in Tullamore last August, the students have increased their activities. The set, which included radical reworkings of Hellical Rising and The Shore That Fears the Sea has been edging towards a more Pharaoh Sanders/ Emperor/ Can hybrid thanks to the new drums and horns helping them to blaze brighter in the northern skye.

As well as completing "The Sorrowful Mysteries…" an avalanche of new material has been recorded, some of which will hopefully turn up in the hands of our sisters and brethren on far distant shores. The students would like to make it known that they are eager to collaborate with like minded souls in these and other climes.

A recent live highlight was their support of US Avant-Hippy pioneers "Sunburned Hand of the Man" in Dec 2004 at the BBR where the general consensus was the slots somehow got mixed up. UBS floored the audience with a mesmerizing shamanic set of meandering & sometimes explosive soundscapes which left the bar too high for the headliners on that particular occasion.

"You have squandered all in your greed and inexhaustible vandalism... my path is towards the beasts..."
    Austin Osman Spare.

United Bible Studies are protected by the ejaculation of serpents.

    Amoebazoid:

Amoebazoid combines Improv guitar with perverted drumbeats. His first album was released on Spitroast records in 2002. He is currently finishing his second one at the moment. He also plays with Roy Carroll in Double Adaptor, who have just released their album 'Live at the Village Vanguard' on O/S/A/K/A records.

This will be great. You should go. Don't hear about it after, just be there then.
