Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Onspeed - just a "download accelerator"?

    Does anyone know anything about this product? It claims to speed up any internet connection using 'compression technology', but it sounds to me like just another 'download accelerator' that downloads links on the page you're currently viewing.

    sounds like bs.

    compression algorithms for jpegs?
    fair play to them :rolleyes:

    probably have a cache of pages on there server and keeps another cache on your pc
    checks the cach version on pc against cahce version they have [if they have one]
    if yours is the same it loads that , if not it loads the new one.[if they dont have one, you get the new version and so do they]

    overall "apparent" speed increase
    waste of money tbh.

    A 56k modem can only go 56k AFAIK. Be careful of these scams ! It will not make browsing faster !

    Eh, I know someone who was using onspeed before they got broadband and it does exactly what it says on the tin.

    If you have a firewall, you will need to have ports 8080, 8025, 8110 open.
    Yea and some hackers and spyware will be just waiting for you when you do open them.
    Possible security risk?

    ROFL. That's far from an independent review.

    More like marketing waffle. Look at the last paragraph - who should get onspeed? - ONSPEED works best from the UK .In other words, it is a caching (cacheing?) service.
