Word count in a resource file (visual studio .net)

Folks, I need a word count for my resx file (it only contains text) for a localisation quote. Does anybody know of a way of doing this either a) within visual studio or b) within an xml document? cheers E.P. p.s. I can fool around with text editors and the such to get an approx. word count but its a bit cludgey.
