Gas prices in the States are mounting. Will Ireland be next?

    CNN Article
    CNN News wrote:
...increases are driven as oil prices rise, due to growing demand from China, India and other developing countries, as well as maintenance costs at aging American refineries, among other reasons.
"I'm not forecasting these changes," said Beutel, adding that an increase of 1 cent a gallon costs consumers $38 million a day nationwide. "These changes have already occurred at the wholesale level."

Hopefully not. Quite a few petrol stations still have the prices significantly higher than they were before the last hike despite the oil price reduction.

Hopefully the oil producers will be able to agree a production increase to offset this. $55+ a barrel is $15 a barrel more than even the oil industry wants the average price to be.

I have absolutely no belief regarding public statements on the oil prices except to believe that it's an entire scam to rise prices.

It's coming up to winter: well as we all know, CNN say this means increases oil prices for the cold season.
It's spring...maybe summer is approaching: we are told, expect oil increases due to the "summer driving season".

This goes on, year after year.

The Euro has appreciated by 40% c/t the dollar 2 years ago. Prices in oil have gone from aroudn $40/b to $55/b. This means we should have marginally cheaper overall prices, around 75c/litre. But instead, it's up up up. We can buy oil with euros as it's so strong for dirt c/t 4 years ago when dollar was stronger and oil prices were around $30/b.

It's a load of ****e, everything I read of oil prices. None of it bears any relation to what's happening in the real world. Why is it with a strong currency - and this is taking into account the 2-3 month period before $/b quotes get to the filling station - we are getting higher and higher prices?

    Because we are STUPID!!

Petrol prices always rise in the Northern hemisphere during the winter, but this year has been higher due to the severe cold weather that the US has been having this winter. Not just petrol, home heating oil consuption is also up. At least that is what they are telling us. mad.gif

the weather isnt cold here in the US. Here in AZ , its hotter than the hottest summer day back home. I mean really hot. And gas(petrol) is only 185 us cents for a gallon.

    Sorry, couldn't resist!
