Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

After many failed attempts to get MMS working with this phone and much scouring of this and other forums I have to admit defeat and ask if anyone can post the MMS settings for this phone on o2.ie contract.

I have WAP and GPRS working but just cant get MMS to work. Anyone help?

Incidentally I used the post here to get WAP and GPRS working.

The settings for any MS smartphone should do the trick.......

Just after getting the SP3 myself, class piece of kit.

    .....
[Edit] Just re-read your post, I only have the credit phone settings :o
    as provided by Dubwireless here.
    ......

Are you familiar with Modaco ? It's an indispensable site for smartphone users, if you check out thir forum there, they have a GPRS settings sticky - which may help you out.

If you want any smartphone links or best games/apps, let me know and I'll post the best ones here.

    Are you on o2?

And does your mms messaging work on pre-pay?

Been to MoDaCo and although it was useful it was no help.

Hope your Imate works out better than mine. The joystick has just gone dodgy and the softkeys are playing up - my advice - if yours gets at all dodgy RMA quick - I have seen lots of complaints about the joystick playing up.

I'm on vodafone prepay at the moment. But I'm about to change to O2 as they give full GPRS services to their prepay customers whereas voda do not. I had a quick go with the settings given to me by Dubwireless for O2, but i couldn't get it to work. But I think I just need to get O2 to set me up on their access points, It's been a good few months since I used the O2 SIM. I might also try Meteor.

I was actually going to get an SP3i until the issue of the joystick was pointed out to me by Dubwireless, so I opted for the SP3. I got the Orange SPV-C500 on ebay brand new still in packaging for £118, an absolute friggin steal!
Unlocking it cost me £20 and I have pre-ordered a 1Gb miniSD card for £74, SD card should be here within 10 days :)
I also got two "display phones" of the same model for £8, just in case I damage my real phone, I can use the display phones as donors for parts.

Playing Divx's on it has to be seen to be believed, the picture is just so good. I'm totally impressed by the thing, it's an order of magnitude better than my last Smartphone, which was the original SPV running windows mobile 2002.

I'm still doing investigation into the various other ROM builds that i could possibly use, i.e. Imate, QTEK, etc.. Basically any that are based on the HTC Typhoon.

Would be interested to see what results you get from different rom builds.

I emailed them and they do not support Smarthpone,

The OS on the XDA is PocketPC phone edition

    1. Tell us what account type you have i.e. bill pay or credit
    2. RING O2 and get them to make sure your account is set up for access to the relevant access points etc..

[EDIT] You could also tell us what model of smartphone and what revision of windows mobile it has too.

hi, as Dr. Dre highlights, before asking for help read this Stickey Thead, especially the relevant info it suggest you provide...
HELLO THERE... About to ask how to get connected for Web/WAP/Email/MMS/Bluetooth etc.

    read

Phone : SPV e100 (HTC Cananry)

OS Microsoft Smartphone 2002 (ver 3.0, rev 13258.0)

    Operator: O2 (Billpay)

    GPRS: connection working

    MMS: not working

I've have been on to O2 and they have sent me the settings, I have configured and got working the GPRS, I have also used the MMS setting they sent me

    for those of you interested

    Homepage: http://mmsc.mms.o2.ie:8002
    IP Address: 192.168.090.074
    Access Point Name: open.internet
    Port: 9201

    for GPRS settings

    use http://web.o2.ie/personal/services/mobile_web/user_guides.jsp

However, even with all this info correct, as I interpreted it still no joy downloading MMS messages.

I was hoping that someone on this forum had a smarthpone already configured for O2 and could tell me where I may be going wrong.

    Thx

hi, there are two places to configure the Microsoft Smartphone handset:
    1) Connection, where you set up the correct GPRS Access Point (i.e. WAP not the ISP one)
    2) MMS Setup, where you specify the connection (i.e. the set-up in 1) and the MMS IP, Port and server etc.

    Give this a shot:

    O2 MMS on Windows Smartphone

    Programs
    Settings
    Data Connections
    Menu > Edit Connections

    GPRS Connections
Select Default MMS Connection and Menu > Edit

    Connects to: MMS Connection
    Access point: wap.dol.ie
    User name: gprs
    Password: gprs
Primary DNS: (leave blank) or 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: (leave blank) or 0.0.0.0
    IP Address: (leave blank)

    Press Done
    Exit to Main Menu

    -

    Programs
    Accessories
    MMS Setup

MMS connection (i.e. the name of the connection you set up above)
    IP: 192.168.90.74
    Port: 9201
    Mmsc Address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.ie:8002/

Message Expiry: user selection e.g. 1 week
Delivery Report: user selection e.g. check
Read Report: user selection e.g. uncheck
Hide Sender: user selection e.g. uncheck

    MMS Download: Auto

    Press OK

    MAny thanks.

The battery just is not good enough, I only get a days usage on the SPV

Redzer, if you dont fancy the look of the Orange logo on the case of your new SPV C500, I have posted my experience with removing it here.

hi, 'Accessories' is usually towards the end of the Programs menu... you need to forward through the pages of the Programs Menu until it appears...

which make/model of handset do you have?

On my Win2003 2nd ed smartphone its in Start...more...more...configurations...mms settings

    Hi All,

Im back again, with a similar problem,

I've got my new SPV c500 and unlocked it, all good,

and now Im back to hassel of setting up GPRS, Wap and MMS messaging again.

The layout of the OS differs from Smartphone 2002, so Im a little lost.

The new connections I am setting up, are not appearing in connections options.

Im going to try Dr. Dre's sugar cube trick later, (see link above) I'll let you know how I get on.

    to recap:

    Phone: SPV c500 (i-mate SP3, HTC Typhoon)

    Operator: o2 (bill)

require setup instructions for GPRS and MMS

    Thanks again

    R

    Update on this,

I have now flashed the phone with the latest ROM upgrade from i-mate, and I am getting some where now, not working yet, but I recon I'll get there.

I now have an Orange branded i-mate SP3, look strange

    /bump/

    still looking for these settings,

I have the gprs setting working, and have the wap configured correctly,

    Still no joy with MMS

    Thx

limited time to post, but 2003 is pretty much the same as 2002 for general Data / GPRS connection set-up...

for MMS make sure you have configured a connection for the MMS GPRS Access Point then configure the MMSC settings, look in:

Programs > Configurations > MMS Settings

in there Menu you should be able to set up the MMSC Settings entering the values that have been previously listed, post back if you are still stuck - or ping secret squirrel for a response (he may have more time than me at the mo)

here is what I think it should be

hi, what are the options given in the "Connects to" list on the first screen, what did you call that GRPS connection?

what are the options given in the "Connect Via" list on the 3rd screen?

when creating the GPRS connection for the MMS Access point, only APN and user/pass are entered, don't enter the DNS or IP address

then the MMSC is configured referencing the connection created above

Ok here's one super post listing all my Smartphone 2003 Settings for O2 bill pay. (Imate Sp3i but should be valid for all MS Smartphone 2003 2nd Ed phones and probably the older MS OSes as well.)

NOTE this wont work for phones running Pocket PC Phone Edition. (Imate Jam etc)

    Start...Settings...More...Data Connections..Menu (right smartkey)...Edit Connections...
Need to Set up 3 Connections :
From connections Choose.... 4 GPRS Connections
    Menu...1 Add.
    Name : GPRS Internet
    Connects to : the Internet
    Access Point : open.internet
    UserName : gprs
    Password : gprs
    Primary DNS : 0.0.0.0
    Secondary DNS : 0.0.0.0
    IP Address : <blank>

    Hit Done...Menu ...1 Add
    Name : GPRS MMS
Connects To : Secure WAP Network
    Access Point : wap.dol.ie
    username : gprs
    password : gprs
    Primary DNS : 0.0.0.0
    Secondary DNS : 0.0.0.0
    IP Address : <blank>

    Done ... Menu..1 Add
    Name : GPRS WAP
    Connects to : The Internet
    Access Point : wap.dol.ie
    username: gprs
    password : gprs

    From .. 3 Proxy Connections...Menu...1 Add

    Name : Wap Proxy

    Connects To : WAP Network
    Proxy Name:port - 192.168.090.074
    Type : WAP
    User Name : <blank>
    Password : <blank>

    Hit Done..done...(and possibly done)
    Back on Data Connections Screen
    Internet Connection : GPRS Internet
    Work Connection : Automatic
    WAP Connection : GPRS WAP
    Secure WAP : GPRS MMS

Done. Done until back to Home Screen.

    To Set Up MMSC Settings

    Start...More..More..Configurations....MMS Settings
    (Dont this next bits matter)
    Tick Retrieve Immediately
    No Attempts: 3
Connect Via : Secure WAP Network
    Photo Res : Original
    (This Does)

    From MMS Settings ... Menu...MMSC Settings...Menu...1 New
    Name : GPRS MMS
    MMSC Url : http://mmsc.mms.o2.ie:8002/
    Wap gateway : 192.168.90.74
    Port : 9201
    Max Sending Size : 100k

    Done...Done...back to Home Screen.

Phew think thats it. Remember to set Pocket Internet Explorer to use the right connection (GPRS Internet) from its Options Menu.

Alternatively Download Opera for MS Smartphone Beta (ifs its still avail.) Its speed over GPRS internet has to be seen to be believed. Much much faster than IE.

Now try sending an MMS Message. PM me if you need some one on the same network as a test subject.

Caveat - I have never sucessfully tested pure WAP browsing - since I dont use it.

If you find any discrepancies in this PM me/Dubwireless and I will edit or Im sure Dub will directly.

    Hi Secret_Squirrel

I put your setting into the Orange SPV C550 that I was using on the o2 Ireland network. The setting worked perfect and I was able to send and receive MMS and surf the web with the phone. In fact, your setting where the only one’s that worked.

I then got myself the I-Mate SP5 Smartphone running Windows 2005 and now I can’t get anything working. I installed the settings exactly as I had them in the SPV C500 but still no luck.

After searching the internet for the past 5 days I am now at a loss.
Can you point me in the right direction for the setting for the I-mate SP5 to work on the o2 Ireland network. I have contacted o2 Ireland and they have no settings for this phone. I also registered on the Club I-Mate site and they only have the settings for o2 UK.

I am on a bill contract

    Regards
    Alan
