Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    JOEY NEGRO
He made disco cool when they said, “Disco is dead” and is widely regarded as one of the founding faces of the UK garage and house music scene. Ten years on and Dave Lee aka JAKATTA, JOEY NEGRO, the HED BOYS, DOUG WILLIS, RAVEN MAIZE, Z FACTOR is still at the forefront of the global scene but still hasn’t decided what name to go by!

Universally acknowledged as the master of all things disco, Dave, under the pseudonym of JOEY NEGRO, was one of the first producers to sample disco music and was largely responsible for giving meaning to the term ‘disco house’.

A producer first and foremost, Negro uses his DJing talents as a sound-bed for tweaking his musical creations to perfection. His work ethic is legendry having been involved in well over 200 productions. With tracks such as “Must Be The Music” and “Can’t Get High Without You,” Jakatta’s ‘American Dream’ & ‘My Vision’ etc etc he has become the most commercially successful house producer in the UK.

Dave spawned yet another dependable label, the much respected Z Records imprint which continues to champion all things soulful in house music. As well as releasing many of Dave’s own productions it has also showcased the talents of notaries such as Basement Jaxx.

As if that wasn’t enough, Dave as Joey Negro has become an internationally renowned DJ, playing in cooler clubs all over the world. He’s regarded as one of Britain’s disco experts and compiles ultra-cool compilations like the ‘Disco Spectrum’ series.

Both the hits and underground classics don’t look like letting up. With Jakatta’s American Dream, So Lonely, My Vision feat Seal and Raven Maize’s “Fascinated” & “Real Life”, Dave’s assault on the charts looks like maintaining its momentum for some time to come. Despite a recent gold selling Jakatta album , he still manages to supply the soulful fraternity with anthems such as his remixes of Erro ‘Change for Me,’ MAW ‘Backfired’ and The Blackbyrds ‘Mysterious Vibes’

Dave Lee, Joey Negro, Jakatta, Raven Maize, Z Factor - call him what you will, he is one of dance music’s best kept secrets, modest, hugely talented, a little quirky, perhaps mad. He is also one of the nicest, hardest working DJ/Producer/Remixers in the business.
