C++ online tutorial / book recommendations

especially interested in book / online tutorial which is heavy on examples, easy to read, intermediate level.. prefer if it covered multi threading (windows threads). server side coding. not interested in mfc etc..

any help appreciated

You can download Bruce Eckel's 'Thinking in C++ 2nd Ed.' volumes 1 & 2 at http://www.mindview.net/Books/DownloadSites - it's got 'Thinking in Java' too if you're interested.

For the Windows stuff you mentioned, (assuming you're not looking for MFC or the more modern tech like .NET, Windows Forms, etc) Charles Petzold's Progamming Windows is probably a good bet. It's considered the bible for Win32 programming.
