Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm putting together a quote for a doctor. He wants to network his own laptop and his secretary's. I was going to do it wirelessly for convenience sake. It won't take me too long to do as I've done it a few times before. How much should I charge? I was thinking about €150. He will of course be paying for the equipment separately.

sounds fair to me. Ensure WEP -- preferably WPA as he will have confidential stuff on his pc presumably, alfo software firewall (zonealarm - free)

It'll definitely be encrypted, WPA with passphrase. I'll also disable broadcasting the SSID. With regards Firewalls, I've tried a few (Sygate, Kerio) and haven't been overly impressed with them as the Sygate had a lot of errors and caused a number of problems while Kerio asked too many questions! Might give ZoneAlarm a go.

I spent 10 minutes with a consultant in Blackrock recently and that cost E150. Go for it. :)

Never feel guilty about charging for your work.....!!!!

If you provide for his requirements to his full satisfaction he won't notice 150 euro. Bear in mind that if you go see him as a patient for 5 mins he'll charge you 40-50 euro....

If your using XP Pro SP2 its firewall should be OK. Just don't allow any external connections to the box.
