Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No suprise. They were forced to advertise the job but even though they interviewed 40 canditates they never intended to appoint anyone other than Delaney.
The Football Association of Ireland today announced that Mr John Delaney has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Association.

Making the announcement, the President of the FAI, Milo Corcoran, said that John Delaney brings with him vast experience and knowledge of sport and a strong business background. “Great progress has been made over the past three months and I am looking forward to that progress continuing apace under the stewardship of John Delaney,” said Mr Corcoran.

He said that Mr Delaney would bring his passion for the sport combined with his experience as a businessperson and his knowledge of the game at both voluntary and executive level to the role of Chief Executive Officer.

John Delaney who had been serving as Chief Executive Officer on an interim basis since December 1st, said he was delighted to accept the position on a permanent basis and was looking forward to the many challenges ahead. “The development of the game throughout the community as we implement the FAI’s Technical Development Plan is an absolute priority”, Delaney said. “We have huge challenges in getting our children interested and active in football and we must invest heavily now in order to reap the benefits in the next ten years”.

He also said that the Stadium project was critical to the future of the game not just by providing a home for Irish soccer but also by contributing financially to the FAI into the future.

He vowed to continue the improvements in managing the FAI’s many stakeholder relationships. “As an organisation with over 400,000 active participants, we need to constantly engage with all our partners including sponsors, Government, the general public and our supporters”, he added.

“We have succeeded in finalising agreements worth over €20 million to the Association in recent weeks and we need to continue to attract commercial partners and sponsors to generate the income to invest in the game”, he said

Mr Delaney’s appointment follows the public advertising of the position last December.

No surprise the clowns are still in charge. Delaney has done a few good things recently (i think) but he is still a muppet.

Well I'm less annoyed than I would have been a few months back with his good work for the EL recently (Though how much of that was down to him?). Still, it's no suprise whatsoever, I'm not sure what I think really.

me too. :o Suppose we'll have to wait and see but I certainly don't agree that he has a huge passion for the sport. I'd like a better football brain in the job but I'll give him a chance.
