Is it possible to learn....

    the tin whistle, from a book using a tape to learn the songs from? You know like the ones in the shops....


    and also say you could learn 3 blind mice is there any harder books out there with music in it again accompanied by mucic on a tape or cd so that you know what your at?


    or any web sites?

    as for learning by ear (from a tape or another person playing) you would be surprised how easy it is to play any instrument.

    Yeah its possible but I think your better off getting a few lessons. The chiffandfipple forums are really good for help. tinwhistleshop.com will give you info on books.

    They're fine for getting the basics, but really you would need to get the gist of a few tracks on your own, then have a more experienced player run through them with you until you get a style of playing that you can transfer to other tunes. Then it's practise practise practise listen listen listen practise practise practise and so on for the rest of your life. Like golf, only worse.
