This thread is devoted to classics you come across which are in need of rescue !

    To start it off ..........
    (From Todays Buy & Sell)

Datsun 180B '78 42k mls, not running, suit parts. South Dublin. 087-1266 080.

Ok, so it may not be a 'classic' in most peoples minds, but it is rare, and may be restorable. It would be an interesting car to bring to shows !

    Also from the buyandsell
Renault 6 '75.Light blue, 1 lady owner from new, needs light restoration, very rare car, #400.

The Renault 6 is quite similar to the Renault 4. It is a very rare vehicle however I'd be surprised if any Irish R6s only require a "light restoration" :)

Dear God don't tell my wife there are strays like these which need homes. There is hardly room for my junk without her going rescuing Renaults.

I have a '74 Mini which needs tender loving care (and about €2,000 spent) which is going free to a good home if anyone wants it....

Now there you go BrianD3, forget about all those POS old japs, go for this one - it's got your name written all over it - and you will be an even happier Renault man :)

Clearly remember that our '70 R4 was p/ex'd for a new Simca 1100. The next door neighbours just got a brand new poo-brown R6. This was back in '74

I've made him an offer but I know the sod wont budge !

wasn't the A35 one of the first all-aluminum production cars?

you might get someone who does hillclimbing interested in that assuming its not bent. Shame they scrapped the class, the cars still look relatively recent.

anyone ever watch wheeler dealers on home and leisure. They restore modern classics. they've cleaned up a few nice cars, and do a good job.

Yeah, I've seen that show. It's good, but Mike Brewer can be a bit ott !

(P.S. Con9903, your new sig picture is just scary - Pat Shortt at his worst !)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 361 ✭✭Con9903

lol cheers thanks, thats the look I'm going for.

about Mike brewer, he gets on my nerves. The way he calls everyone "fella". the fact that he feels like hes 17 no matter what car hes in. the fact that every car makes him smile.

They don't seem to think that the skills required to do the work they do is beyond the ability of the average person - never mind the tools, garage space, and car lifts which they have at their disposal

Yep, I've googled the Datsun 1200 and am now pretty sure that that's what I saw. The styling is a bit like a cross between a Corolla KE10 and a KE30 :)

Is this the 2 door version of the 120Y?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,438 ✭✭✭BrianD3

Datsuns aren't my strong point :) but I think the car I saw and the one Silvera is referring to is the Datsun 1200 (B110 model) This was a predecessor of the Datsun 120Y (B210 model) Both the 1200 and 120Y were available with 2 or 4 doors.
