Last time I was out looking for second hand bikes was more than 5 years ago. Got a friend now who wants a fast commuter / possible sunday spin bike and the ideal thing is a 3 or 4 year old racer with decent long lasting componentry for anything under 600 euros. Though for the commuter side I'd push in to the not-worth-stealing area below 400. So we have gone to all the places that used to have large stock of second hand bikes but that has returned almost nothing.

Cycleways used to have their basement full of stuff that got moved to the shed next door and now it seems to have completely disappeared. Humphries only had one s/h bike and that was too small. Didn't expect cycle superstore to have anything ... and they didn't. None of them could recommend a place with a large stock of second hands. I guess shops don't take trade-ins any longer, so what happens to your racers 2 or 3 years down the line when you want to upgrade. Do you sell them privately on buyandsell, within your club or just add them to the pile at the back of your garden??

    Rob

P.s. Anyone got a 58ish racer going with a 105 (or better) groupset?

Which 1000 model? When I look on http://trekbike.co.uk there are 5 1000 models (D T, FB, C, WSD and C WSD). A pic would be great.

http://www.evanscycles.com has some 2004 models for sale (D and FB). Is it one of them?

I've been wondering the same thing - where have all the 2nd hand bikes gone? O'Briens on Thomas St. used to sell a few but they seem to have shut down in the last few weeks.

I'm selling this by the way:

my mate bought a lovely Specialized Rockhopper via www.buyandsell.ie

It was only two years old and was in super nick. There are deals out there, you just have to a) look hard, b) be lucky!
