Ah poor stuey, too many noons up your spoose?

listen to 'the district sleeps alone tonight' by postal service

alternative, find several academic articles on media framing for me so I can get at least 3 hours sleep before my train in the morning....if you could also compare and contrast them for 1500 words that'd be great....

    **EDIT**

or My Friend by Groove Armada or All I Need by Air

thanks stuey playing with musicmatch is so much more fun than doing actual work :D

Ah poor stuey, too many noons up your spoose?

I knew that spoon would kill my cred. Still no regrets!!

This is more of a serious note tho. I really need to chill out. Too much crap going on in my life.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I will look them up. Anymore going?

talking out your a$$ buddy. Trey is a brilliant musician and songwriter. You may not like it but that is a classic tune.

It's been said already but you cant go wrong with any of the air albums. Get moon safari first, i've seen it on sale for like a tenner in loads of places.
Lemon jelly are just so cheerfull and wacky its like a big musical hug. Spacewalk is my favourite song bar none.
Beth Ortons voice is unusual and takes awhile to get used to but once you do you'll love her.
Chicane released an ep a few years back with chill out mixes of their earlier tracks, well worth tracking down, i think it was called chilled.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 834 ✭✭✭dearg_doom

    What Trizo said

Plus a bit of early guyCalledGerald, MOBY(Everything is Wrong has some relaxed tunes) 808State, and the ORB... What was the sky like when you were young?

  • Registered Users Posts: 477 ✭✭Jonathanpbk

i find air (like everyone's said) very relaxing (well, moon safari anyway...)
pink floyd - dark side of the moon... stick on the album and sit back!!
goldie - timeless... very chilled drum and bass (seriously, it is chilled out)
simon and garfunkel have a good few easy listening tracks but some depressing ones too... (they do put me in a great mood though)

    good luck

Michael Nyman's 'Theme from The Piano' has seen me through some hard times
    Radiohead's 'Street Spirit [Fade Out]'
Brad Mehldau's jazz/classical piano versions of Radiohead songs are fantastic for vegging to...
Otis Redding's 'Sitting on the Dock of the Bay'
    Marvin Gaye's 'What's Going On'
Miles Davis - the entire 'In Blue' album.
    Carole King's 'Tapestry' album
James Taylor - Any greatest hits album
    Bob Dylan's - Greatest Hits

or anything that's just piano with no accompaniement.

    Air - The Virgin Suicides
Nirvana - Unplugged in New York
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of The Moon

There is also a compilation album that was released about a year ago. It's called "Strange and Beautiful" and there are loadsa classic chill out tracks on it. It's a two cd compilation and there are lots of different genres on it so it's a good mix. Check it out...

Cheers for that! You know when your trying to remember an album/artist and you can't... I was going ****king mental!!

It's a classic, buy it now people.

Oh yeah and get some Bjork.

Depends on what you're into, some good suggestions there. Hed Kandi do some nice chill out stuff. I got the last Winter Chill album and thought it was good for just chilling out and clearing your head.

    Hope things pick up :)

    my chill out albums are

    The Cinematic Orchestra - "Everyday"
Nightmares on Wax - "Carboot Soul"
Nirvana - "unplugged in New York"

    And, for some bizarre reason,

Wu Tang Clan - "The W"

I saw someone mention Radiohead's OK Computer.

I would recommend Amnesiac by them. I spent some of my college years coding away with that in the background.

    Chilled as feic.

All this talk of Goldie made me recall another D'n'B act, the formative LTJ Bukem, and not just "Horizons"; anything from his Logical Progression series will chill you to f**k out, pretty nicely...
Some real nice suggestions in this thread...I'll be going in hunt of a few titles in here myself...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,889 ✭✭✭Third_Echelon

My chillout albums that usually work for me are:

    Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun
    Sigur Ros - ( )
David Gray - White Ladder (not really chill music, but relaxed music)
    Jeff Buckley - Grace
    Leftfield - Leftism
    Massive Attack - 100th Window
    Massive Attack - Blue Lines
    Radiohead - Kid A
    Radiohead - Amnesiac
Stina Nordenstam - The World is Saved
    Rufus Wainwright - Poses

If Sigur Ros doesn't get you chilled nothing will.... seriously get a lend of or buy those 2 albums!!!!

    As was said already...

Check out Lemonjelly.Ky, Air (particularly Moon Safari and Premieres Symptomes) and give Sigur Rós' "Agætis byrjun" a listen too. Eva Cassidy's "Songbird" album is pretty good too as is Enigma's "Cross of Changes".
