Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seemingly the FAI and the SFA have agreed on a Ref Swap, which will see an official from Scotland take charge of the eL game between Cork and Drogheda on 22nd April at Turner's X. It will also involve an Irish ref officiating at a Scottish League match.

It is envisaged that referees from the League of Wales will also become invovled in this.

    The move is backed UEFA.

    Just a simple question. Why?

Well, if it means some competancy finally coming to the eL then I'm all for it.

At the moment it seems the eL referees are educated at Krusty's Klown Skool.

First the 2008 bid shambles, now we're inflicting our refs on them, the Scots will never talk to us again.

I think its a brilliant move. The standard of refing here has been improving all the time. All aspects of the game here have to be developed and reffing is a big part of that. I know we have now some ref that meets some UEFA standard for the first time. They are badly stuck for ref's at European level and there is no reason why an Irish ref should be aiming for that.

Presumably the EL ref will be given an old firm derby then?

Call me paranoid but this sounds nothing to do with improving standards. More like a tiny little toe-in-the-water way of 'integrating the three leagues' in view of creating some kind of 'Celtic league' a generation or two from now for when Celtic/Rangers finally manage to jump ship.

I wouldnt start jumping ot conclusions. There are a number of things the FAI are doing to improve the standard of reffing. There is some kind of ref programme agreed with UEFA.

Sending Ref's to scotland and wales is a pratical step since the standard isnt that different and its very close.

I cant see any celtic league kicking off. It wouldnt be pratical and we would loose out on European spots etc.

its about time some of our ref's did some international matches as well.
