Disn't see it I'm afraid. Remember any lyrics? Even a line and I should get it.

I really just can't remember any of the lyrics I'm afraid.
He does go on with a lot of 'daa dai daa dai daa dai daa dai' or something. I'm pretty sure I've heard the song many times before but can't remember the lyrics at all. It's damn catchy. Perhaps, I may have heard different versions of it.
    Any ideas, Whiskey?

The song was Gene Raskin's "Those Were The Days". Originally a Russian traditional song they say. Where it really came from nobody knows.

    Here's the Gene Raskin lyrics:

    Those We're The Days

Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
think of all the great things we would do

Those were the days my friend
    We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance for-ever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
    We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way
Lalala lah lala, lalala lah lala
Those were the days, oh yes, those were the days

Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern
We'd smile at one another and we'd say

Just tonight I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me

Through the door there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh, my friend, we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same

The melody is Russian Traditional. Lennon/McCartney didn't write it. The lyrics I posted are the ones sung by Liam Clancy and they were written by Gene Raskin. Lennon/McCartney heard his wife sing this song and produced the recording for her, I think. So, no they didn't write it.
