    Do merchant accounts require a deposit now? When I signed up for my BOI merchant account several years ago I had to run two separate accounts - one for standard transactions, one for internet cardholder not present transactions - however a deposit wasn't required. I have someone trying to tell me now that he can't sign up for Realex because AIB require a €5k deposit, which is news to me. Anyone care to confirm or deny?

    we got one with Realex & BOI about 12 months ago and there was no talk of a deposit at all.
