    http://www.skynet.ie/~damocles/

I'm using shared borders ... I had inital used frames but shared borders just made it easier to update the menu on the left ...

but the problem is I want the menu strip to extend to the bottom of the screen I.E.
keep in sync as it were with the content in the main area(right). but not sure how ...

I could set a fixed lenght but then some of the pages with only a small bit of text would by miles long while others might actually go on longer ... such as the news section at the start or the links and guestbook section

I really don't like frames and just wondering is there any other why around having to use them.

Bad Khan, bad! You're not really supposed to use percentage heights for tables, otherwise you could get away with just sticking 100% in the height attrib. of the table.

Alternatively - you can give the effect of the side bar extending to the end by using a background image on the page. Use one like the one I made earlier wink.gif for you at http://www.scaryeire.com/img/boards/BackgroundForKhan.gif - just make sure that after you implement that b-g, you blot it out with blackness (or whatever) in the part above the menu and don't use a transparency on the dragon bit.

    Hope this helps.

The left is a shared border and at the moment
it is set to 100% but as you can see doesn't extend down to cover the full screen. unfortunately I don't think a frame would keep the design I want.
