The Yozan MetroZone will deliver high speed IP connectivity, and support voice, video and broadband data services.

Airspan Networks and partner YOZAN will commence trials in the second quarter of 2005 and commercial rollout will begin in the fourth quarter of the year. Airspan, a leading provider of broadband wireless solutions in Japan, expects to complete delivery of the base stations by the end of March of 2006.

The initial network will be based on a rollout of 600 cells in central Tokyo
Considering the population of Tokoyo that's about $1 each.

Tokyo is going to get what will be the first major deployment of a WiMAX Metropolitan Area Network in the world.

Damn it, just after Intel's Mr Wimax, who is now in ComReg's consumer panel, suggests Dublin to become the world leader as a digital city. See his presentation "Enabling the Digital City Transformation through Wireless Technology". Link to the pdf of Ciaran Close's speech in UCD last November on this page.

Looking at the list of people in the ppt I can't see a Dublin WiMAX happening soon at an affordable price - too many telcos with 3G to protect.

I'll say it again $1 per head - compare that to the amount Eircom are making on line rental or the NRA are spending or the current cost of GPRS data :(
