    Hi,

I have just opened an online shop for fishing tackle. We currently have about 400 products and will be adding more all the time. I would be very interested in hearing any feed back about the shop. Anything and everything welcome. We're based in Dublin and have a nationwide (north and south) delivery fee of €10, which just isn't bad.

post your replies here, or drop me an email Gavin@baumanns.ie

    Cheers,
    Gavin

Nice looking site, prices vary from reasonablr to poor, but I am comparing them (and i only compared a reel and a few rods) to the UK sites where I get most of my bigger gear from, all the small stuff gets bought at my local tackle dealer.

Who do you ship with? is it just with an post?

Rods, how do you ship them? Do you throw in a free hard rod tube like the uk sites?

Frozen baits, u post these? i presume its water tight.

Do you do next day delivery? When would the order need to be placed to receive the goods next day?

We use water tight poly-boxes for our bait, we cover the extra cost of next day delivery on bait, the poly-boxes need to be full however to keep everything frozen for as long as possible. Bait stays frozen for 24hrs in this condition. We've shipped from dublin to kerry with no problems.

we ship our rods with free rod tubes.

we use various couriers depending on where the package is being delivered and what shape the package is.

Regarding our prices, we're working with our suppliers all the time to try and improve these. Keep an eye out, they should be coming down soon enough. BTW Which website in england do you use, do you know which one is most popular?

    Thanks for the comments
    Gavin

    Hi Gavin,

Just an idea... you should give more info on each bait, for example what fish it is good for etc.

Thanks for the suggestion about the bait.

We're far from finished the site. At the moment it's all products, but we're hoping to put up maps and detailed accounts of where to fish and what works there. A little section for the beginner on knot tying, rig making etc. This is all a few weeks away but we'll be hoping to expand the actual content quite a bit. We can draw on a huge amount of experience that our staff have and also some of our customers.

    Cheers
    Gav

    Gavin,

The ones i use in the UK are http://www.tacklebox.co.uk/ and http://www.wmac.co.uk (recommended by andip in this very forum, I ordered 2 rods and 2 reels and received just a few weeks back), it can sometimes take a week or two for gear to arrive tho, so as you guys can overnite stuff, it doesn't have to be as cheap, just close to it to not make much of a difference :)

I Hope they looked after you Nog ?

I buy all of my main gear from the UK (WMAC), mainly due to range availablility & price. The market over here has been screaming out for a good online shop, so I hope it works well for you Gavin.

If you can increase the range & keep an eye on prices, you should do well. Just a quick example would be the Ron Thompson Panther 13ft Match rod which you have for €72.95 on your site, sells for £39.99 Stg (€58.80) on Wmac & you have the option of adding an Undertaker 30 reel for only an extra £10 Stg (these added value bits are quite an incentive, as although I don't 'need' an extra reel, for the sake of a tenner, its always handy).

Obviously there's postage & delivery time to be taken into consideration, so if you could get the range, chances are I'd give you the business.

    Andi

ps...I bought my garden shed from you guys when I lived in Dublin & the service was top notch :D

pps...The blue 'Home link' button from your tackle page doesn't work - tries to go to http://baumanns.ie/index.html
