Outlook/thunderbird settings for IBB Breeze conn

    Hi all,

    I'm having probs sending email from my email clients as per title.

    I have an eircom.net email address and have put the usual account settings in as follows:

    POP3, incoming & outgoing server mail1.eircom.net

    Server ports outgoing 25
    incoming 110

    In connections, I choose 'connect using my LAN'

    When i goto send en email, i get an error in the dialog box as per attachment

    Any ideas??

    check the account properties.
    is your email address set as mail1.eircom.net?

    it appears to be from my interpretation of the error message,
    cchange it to myemail@eircom.net

    the 'mail account name' was set to mail1.eircom.net as a default i think...

    so i changed it to what you suggested...i still get the error, only mail1.eircom.net has now changed to 'myemail@eircom.net'.

    i got connected last tuesday and i could seend and receive ok till thursday, then it stopped working.

    can i assume you put "myemail" in as your own email address?

    in the GENERAL tab of the account properties box, i have(NOW):

    myemail (friendly name)

    under user info: my own name

    organisation: blank

    email address: i typed my address in

    reply add: blank

    hmm,
    best bet wouold be to delete and recreate the account, see if that allows it to work.

    error 553 is unrecognised or invalid email address specified as sender or could be a corrrupted outbox aswell.

    easiest thing is to delete and recreate imo

    omfg im sorry,
    i didnt read the whole topic....

    youll have to change the outgoing port to whatever ibb specify not eircoms one.

    damm that evil front page with its shortenings....

    just tried that now...it looks as if its going to send-as in the progress bar etc, but then the 553 error comes up.

    i can send an email to myself, but to other addresses...no go.

    not outgoing port, jesus im losing it :rolleyes:

    use ibbs mail server

    mail.ibb.ie or whatever they say, its not listed on their site so its probably with your original docs

    hmmmm...tried that server. no joy.

    tried mail1 no joy.

    i'll email them

    got my IBB email settings

    Outgoing server is smtp.irishbroadband.ie
