Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My USB ports are not recognising devices when I plug them in.

I've tried it now ith numerous devices to no avail. Everytime I try and uninstall the drivers Windows (XP) reinstalls it's wonky ones before get a chance to install the ones I have on CD.

If it's any help I'm using a...motherboard...erm...ASUS I believe. The one that came with the Komplett 2600+ package...

Tis pissin me off no end cos I just got my ZenTouch this morning

    Any help seriously appreciated.

    Thanks

Try update the drivers with the one you have on the CD.

I'd reinstall the drivers from the CD you got with the motherboard. Should fix the problem.

OK I've tried that a few times to no avail.

If it's any use, its the Asus A7N8X-X mobo. None of the USB ports are working. There are 2 up by the mouse and keyboard porst and 2 down by the on-board ethernet.

In device manager the list looks as follows:

    Universal Serial Bus Controllers
    - Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
    - Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
    - Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
    - Unknown Device
    - Unknown Device
    - Unknown Device
    - Unknown Device
    - Unknown Device
    - Unknown Device
    - USB Root Hub
    - USB Root Hub
    - USB Root Hub

Every time I unistall the mutherf*ckers they [Windows] reinstalls them!

None of the "unkown devices" have the yellow exclamation mark beside them or anything, just the standard USB icon.

I appreciate the help lads, cheers.

If you double-click on the unknown devices and go to the Driver tab you should have an option to upgrade. Go through that and point it towards your CD.

If you're still getting jip delete the errant devices from Device Mangler followed by deleting your %WINDIR%\setupapi.log. Then tell DM to refresh and it'll go and try to install drivers for what it finds. SETUPAPI.LOG will tell us what happened during this refresh operation. Post it up here and we'll see what we can do.

Ok here's the setupapi file, i uninstalled all the drivers under the USB part of SM and let it refresh and here's what it got:

Hmm. USB\VID_0000&PID_0000. Doesn't look good. According to this discussion it might be related to a power issue.

Can you check all your power connections to the mobo are good and at the same time confirm your motherboard (you suggest it's an ABit). Also apply the latest BIOS update from here.

The Mobo is an Asus Nvidia N-Force A7N8X-X as best I know.

I'll have a look at the Power cables now and let ya know.

    Thanks again for the help.
