Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Extending range of Router

Now that I have resolved the wireless network issue I am wondering if I can extend the range of the network by adding an access point.

Since I now have a Belkin Modem with Wireless Router I have the Linksys WRT54G router sitting gathering dust.

Is it possible to set that up to be another access point for the house as the signal drops dramatically as I move away from the office?

If it is possible what do I have to do - I cannot find the manual!!

Saving me the google, that Linksys gathering dusk is wireless I'm assuming?

In that case you need to login to it and turn off DHCP and it's routing functions. There should then be an option in there to simply act as an access point (AP) rather then a modem/router.

You'll need to have a look on the Linksys site for the manual proberly, it should mention how it's done.

    Thanks Ciaranfo

I have downloaded the manual but can't seem to fid it anywhere. If I turn off DHCP and its routing functions would it automatically detect the network?

I have the Linksys WRT54G though I use it as the gateway to the cable modem.

Page 39 of the User Guide ("The Setup Tab - Advanced Routing) describes how to change the operating mode from 'Gateway' to 'Router'.

I guess this will allow you to set the route to the Belkin modem.
As I am not familar with setting up routes and don't use this feature I can't be of any more help.

I have the WRT54G too - If I remember correctly you might either need Version 3 of the firmware or one of the third party firmwares to do this.
