    That was A+.

The Gig was savage, he played for a good hour and 20 mins id say, got through all the classics, aswell as a few i didnt think id see performed live, never the less, quality concert, support were actually alright, who were they?, DJ in between was sh1t tho, playing all that mainstream bull****, got the crowd going i suppose tho...fair play NaS, you put on a good show, one mic, new york state of mind, brilliant.

I dont know i thought it was a bit all over the place, he started off with loads of new stuff then went back to his first album and then just went wherever but he did play some good stuff i didnt expect from him. The sound was terrible it was really hard to make out a word he was saying if i didnt know what the words where id have been lost but I suppose what can you expect from the point but it seemed really bad tonight.

Was supprised to see so little people at it the point only looked about half full. The security where going overboard, they even went through my wallet, wtf am i going to hide in there the worlds smallest gun ?!? Saw some fella when out having a smoke walking the wrong way and a security guy came up and told him to go the other way and when he did the security guy gave him a good push for no reason nearly knocking him over and when your man was like what did you do that for he pulled him out of the barrier and got him kicked out by the guards.

All in all not a great gig it was good I got to see nas live but it was just a bit of a let down, i knew a guy who saw him in NY years ago said he was not too good live guess he was right.

I thought it was an excellent gig. I liked the support act too. I'd like to know who they are. Im glad Nas did a long set, he basically did every song I wanted to hear. I thought he was very good live. Surprised there wasn't more people there but I guess most of the G-unit fans stayed at home.

i thought it was a great gig to. i think that nas always puts a lot of energy into it and i liked the fact that he mixed the tracks up and didn't play just all radio hits like some rappers do when they come over here. i think urban intelligence did too many songs though, everyone just wanted nas

Would you prefer if he had done every song in chronological order?

The sound wasnt the best i agree, that the point for ya tho, thats why i would have prefered somewhere like the Olympia as the venue

    Em, yea that or drugs

The stuff he played off the lost tapes was quality, didnt expect to hear them at all, also songs like K-I-S-S-I-N-G and Oochie wally didn't need to be played, although in fairness he only did about 20 seconds of it so it wasn't too bad

No not saying it should have been in any order just didnt sound too good like it was like he played kissing (which i was totally supprised at) then played say ether or something it just didnt meld too well for me. Hey im just going by other concerts ive seen ususally there is some sort of order but hey i agree it was good to hear some songs that i never thought id hear too.

Come on seriously checking someones wallet its not like it was big its just one of those thin leather ones with cards etc i dont imagine you could fit a drug into it if you tried. Any way the point was they really just went overboard their attitute was real cocky ive been to allot of gigs over the years and never seen them getting so in peoples faces so quickly for nothing, i mean nothing was said to me but i saw people get talked to like children when getting searched etc it was really unporfessional, i could understand if it was a crowd of scumbags and there was loads of people but it wasnt that busy and everyone seemed fairly cool no little trouble makers locked or anything.

The big fat woman that was searching people on the way in sexually harrassed me. She patted me down then searched my jacket pockets then patted my ass down again. I felt emotionally scarred.

Good gig, I enjoyed it. I agree with you kristok, the continuity of the songs was a bit off.

Songs like Oochie Wally, Nastradamous and Kissing should not have been played, shocking tracks.

Shame it wasn't a full house, I suppose because he's not huge in the charts the Eminem massive didn't bother going, uneducated fools. I'd love to of been there!

Ive never understood the hate for Oochie Wally, personally i think its a great tune (alright, Nas own verse is a bit pants lyrically....but still).

Good gig, but i hate the way he only played like one third of some of the classics, just cuts off all of a sudden :(

Can anyone post the setlist as you recall it? I was locked :) Thats the problem with concerts for me- i love it when im there, but cant recall half of it

Security and rules were mental, they even searched inside the hood of my jacket as i was going in! And the over 21s at the bar rule is utter cock, at snoop anyone over 15 would get served. I had to get people to buy me a pint last night.

Lost my Garda ID too

So, half done songs, searches more stringent than those on new arrivals in Guantanamo Bay, nowhere to go afterwards....it was good, but it coulda been better

Man I was at the concert from Cork and it ruled!

better than all the concerts I have been to, and that includes Xzibit, Cypress Hill, Eminem, D12, G-Unit and Nelly.

The man put a lot of energy into it. A++. Hope he eventually comes back

    Your kidding right?

I really enjoyed the gig but there was SO many scumbags in the crowd it was horrible. No really, celtic jerseys galore. I'm sure someone is gonna call me a snob but I can only speak from where I was. I guess the last gig I was at was the scratch perverts so the difference in the crowds was something I was very aware of. Security left everyone alone when in there (that I saw) and that included widespread smoking, rolling and even a few lads blatently on E; running on the spot with their tops off at the back. I thought it was really empty but was glad I had some space without fear of getting my head kicked in. :D NaS himself was great (when he eventually came out) - forget the PA system, his voice and rapping were great...he put loads of energy in (unlike the God's Son DVD where he barely finishes any line). Great variety of tracks (some a bit abrupt as said above) but glad to hear them all. Loved Get Down - what a tune! Have to admit I was wondering where he was going playing other people's records near the start given his quantity of material, but it was all good. The R. Kelly comment was hilarious.

Irish support act were fairly decent but that's the longest set I've seen them do and it really dragged a bit near the end.

Overall thrilled to see the man himself perform.

Glad to hear someone else noticed the clientelle. The smoking was rampant and considering the numbers there it was more than an oversight - it was totally allowed. They waded through the smokers to get some dude recording the gig on his video camera! But to the be fair to them (the scobes) quite a few of them around me knew the words...although that's not to say the lads dealing right in my face sang any of the tunes are even did anything resembling a dance. Ah well!

Heh, speaking of scumbags we got in a fight with a big fat bastard. Fúcking moron.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,464 ✭✭✭Kristok

lol, you should have asked before hand there was no chance youd get to have anything signed in the point. The point is a pure kip its a shame that there is nowhere else in dublin for this kind of thing to go.

There where scum there but i mean compared to any other rap concert or big name concert it was dead and any scum that where there didnt make any trouble apart from with makaveli :o)

I forgot about him calling r kelly a rapeist that was the best part it came out of nowhere it was great.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,035 ✭✭✭Bri

Indeed I thought rewind was brilliant. It's a quality track and came off perfectly live which is a nice surprise.

The Point are generally ultra-strict. Last gig I was at I had lost my mates and was standing behind the side-balconies...which were empty...and was told to move to my seat or leave as this area was for VIPs only?! I'm sorry but how many VIPs would stand at the back of the side...:D

    Any other photos?

Yea, Rewind was class alright its up there with all the other NaS songs that are just brilliant concepts that he pulls off really well.

These photos were all taken during One Mic, the lighting was too strong during the rest of the set to come out properly on the camera phone

Cool thanks. I still have my digital camera ones to download once I find the cable, but I'm pretty sure with and without flash they didn't come out well. Not sure why cos it worked for me a gig the week before...

Are irishhiphop.com gonna put up anything? Wish they're site would get back up.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 152 ✭✭Drum boy

I dunno but i'd say hiphopireland will have something up soon!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 724 ✭✭✭ubu

I thought Ay Cee would have some pics up on the irish beats site but no such luck, he usually manages to get some quality pics at most gigs.

i have more pics but they arent the best and not really worth posting here but if anyone wants 'em ill forward them on to ya.

    i'd appreciate that
