Wondering if any1 else on this mast is experiencing severe delays or whether its just me. This happened before and IBB were able to fix it, took about 2 weeks, but it was doable and now its completely gone heywire. Dloads rarely go over 30k most are around 20, and my pings are all over the place. Just did this ping to boards.ie

    boardsie-ping.jpg

me thinks ill probably be cancelling (if possible) if this isnt resolved soon, its simply too unreliable.

Pinging www.boards.ie [82.195.144.58] with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 82.195.144.58: bytes=32 time=26ms TTL=59
    Reply from 82.195.144.58: bytes=32 time=61ms TTL=59
    Reply from 82.195.144.58: bytes=32 time=14ms TTL=59
    Reply from 82.195.144.58: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=59

    Ping statistics for 82.195.144.58:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 14ms, Maximum = 61ms, Average = 29ms

That's with BT going at 65KB/s down and 46 up, along with 3 other torrents uploading.

that ping was done with nothing but 2 forums open (including boards.ie), no downloads going, no games running, no unncessary processes accessing the internet :/

I am using IBB's 1mbit breeze product and since yesterday its crap. My pings are about as good as yours and im getting about 20k/s max. But I am in Lucan. I wonder if it has anything to do with their 2mbit tests they are conducting?

I'm having same problem. Pings are high and the using the internet feels sluggish.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,129 ✭✭✭Sesshoumaru

    where are you located neokenzo?

Rathmines. Not sure which mast I'm connected to.

Ring them and have a moan, that's happened to me a couple of times and if resetting your box doesn't work then it's more than likely a routing problem

That sucks my pings to www.boards.ie are usually around 5-7ms. Just did one now and heres the results:

If your connection is that bad, call them. That will get something done. No point in telling boards about it - We can't do anything for you.

im aware of that I was simply attempting to see if it was me or if it was a general problem with 3rock

    You're right to ask, Enigma.

I posted on Friday morning ('is my IBB radio broken') but I'm on the Ballymun mast. After your Friday night post, other masts seem to be slow as well. Oldtitan (see below) said there was a problem with the Ballymun mast but he'd get it fixed.

FWIW, there's an poster (OldTitan) who implies he works for IBB and he replies to lots of the Ballymun mast complaints.

Sorry, I re-read my post. I sounded a bit dicky. Didn't mean to have it come out like that.. but yeah, give them a call and get em to sort it for ya.

    you want a laugh?

I tried the adsl speedguide with nothing but that webpage and zonealarm running. the results i received werre quite telling...

    http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedchart.asp?id=1d25942e102e514a9bd1d25942e

Direction Actual Speed True Speed (estimated)
    Downstream 60 Kbps (7.5 KB/sec) 64 Kbps (inc. overheads)
    Upstream 23 Kbps (2.9 KB/sec) 24 Kbps (inc. overheads)

The graph puts me on par with ISDN.......

is it the 20:1 1meg product???

if there is nothing wrong with your actual connection and your downloads stay low it may be contention. when i had a problem and the engineers came out they were telling me 20:1 is pretty useless...i had it myself for a while but moved to 8:1 which is very good. pings arnt great but im not much of a gamer myself...

I rang them up today letting them know that my ping was all over the place. The guy just say that they dont guarantee pings. So tough luck.

Yeah, but if your packets are being dropped that doesnt meet the minimum service levels.
