Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I reckon with all the mp3 users it's worth a shot. Mods, please fell free to dump this elsewhere if it shouldn't be here.

Basically my problem is that I've been given a CD with a downloaded album on it. Unfortunately the tracks came down as a single file and I want to be able to split it into individual tracks. I'm not sure what the file format is because I can't see it in Windows Explorer for some reason. I have a couple of programs (EAC, Audiograbber) where I can see the file but can't slice it up. Does anyone know of any freeware that I can download that will enable me to turn the file into individual tracks?

    Thanks.

Best to rip the one-track album to MP3. And search Google for 'freeware MP3 Splitter'.

Had a similar problem with the soundtrack to 'Shaun Of The Dead'

There's one. I mentioned it to a poster once. Wait here whilst I check my old posts.

Use Audcity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Its free. Kind of easy to use. (I say kinda, as I only used it once, to ensure it works for your purpose) was able to open file, select first 30 seconds, create new file, and paste the copied the 30 seconds, and then was able to save and play the saved file.
    From this thread.

It's free, and allows you to split up the tracks. All you have to do is to copy segments/parts of the album, into tracks. Part on dude!
