Reef aquariums are hugely responsible for the depletion of natural wild reef systems, 99% are taken from the wild as breeding such specialised animals in captivity is next to impossible.

my advice?, do the right thing and go for a tropical tank, just as, if not more interesting, and a LOT easier to look after.

Reef setups are Hugely specialised, Very delicate and need often very complex daily managment, hard work and quality testing.

I wouldn't exactly say they are trouble, but they require lots and lots of time, dedication and effort. If you're not prepared to put this time and effort in, do yourself, and the fish a favour, and don't bother. Also as others have pointed out, all fish, corals, 'living rocks' etc. etc come from the wild and are not captively bred. Personally this was one of the main reasons for me not continuing with this hobby, beautiful as the aquarium was.

Also think of what to do when you go on holiday. Trying to find someone with enough knowledge, maturity and responsibility to keep a reef tank going for you for two weeks is a nightmare, I can tell you.
