Thinking of buying a Renault Kangoo as my first car. The 4 Door commercial version.

Reason #1 for this is that I am into watersports and it would be handy for carrying gear around in and on occasion sleeping in.

Reason #2 is that they seem a lot cheaper than similar aged cars I am looking at.

Reason #3 is that the insurance appears to be about a grand cheaper than for a similar sized VW Golf.

Reason #4 is that if I start my own business, which i may be doing, i can advertise it on the sides.

Anyway, question is, what are the impications of buying a commercial for private use?

What sort of mileage is respectable for a 200 model?

    How reliable are they?

I driven a 2001 model since new, reliability was not great at start IE first 50,000 miles. Lots of little things were going wrong, one big problem involved the engine and a smell of diesel inside the cockpit, i had to take it to a specialist diesel diagnostic place to get it fixed. Right now its got about 65000 miles on clock and my central locking is not working, the van thinks one of the doors is open so I cannot put the alarm on

Overall its ok but its just these minor problems that turn up constanly that annoy me

oh yea, its as slow as my granny taking a bath on a sunday morning

ive got about 37000 miles on my 04 model. Only thing I've really found so far is that theyre incredibly uncomfortable for long journeys. Maybe that's just me and my awkward shape though..

Ohh and im getting buckets of wheelspin. Could be my "Dukes of Hazard" driving stylee however.

Peug/Citroen sell a similar sized van also which may be a better choice.

I think once it is a van it should be taxed and insured as a commerical vehicle. If you have a VAT number you may be able to claim the VAT back on it if you are buying it new.

Oh I do find it actually pretty comfortable. I'm rather taller than the average boyo though
