Just looking into chasing walls for cabling for a very basic set of speakers (couple of hundred euro). Any advice (i.e. will there be male/female ends on cables, which should go which end etc?)

not really much hassle with P speakers, just make sure that the cables always end up in the same coloured hole on both sides, e.g. cable in red socket in the speakers goes into red socket in the Amp

    Ta,

P speakers? Are they the ones that it's just a wire that clips into the speaker and a plug into the amp?

A lot of speaker systems use bare wire at both the amp and the speakers. These are normally clamped using some sort of spring or screw. Banana plugs are also fairly common

Get OFC multistrand cable but don't spend silly money.

If you are chasing the wall and doing a neat job then consider terminating the wires on one of these

just a suggestion, instead of chasing walls (v. messy) why dont you remove the skirting boads, cut a groove in the back of them and then re attach to the wall.

    Thanks for the info

Chasing the walls is far too much trouble - especially for a simple set-up. Just staple-gun the cable neatly to the top of the skirting - get some thin speaker cable the same colour.
