We are looking for some info on good primary schools in Dublin City Centre. Apparently even though the chiddler is only 19 mth olds we should have his name on waiting lists already. Meep.

We were thinking about sending him to a gaelscoil to try and give him an advantage in secondary school as we're both awful at Irish. Whaddya think?

in some places they are puting down a place for a child before it is born
ie place held for 'Baby Murphy' for 5 years time :( .

some gealscoils run classes for parents in the evenings,
do get a list from the department of education for the schools in your area.
Have a word with neighbours and if you have family in the area about the schools.

We have an interview soon for the secondary school for our 7 year old.
So many schools are underfunded with bad buildings and lacking in rescourses
that the lists for those where your child will not be in a leaky prefab is pretty long.

Cheers Thaed, don't know why we didn't think of contacting the Department of Education.

Our problem is that we're living in an apartment in the City Centre at the mo so we're not sure where to start looking. We're going to buy a place mebbe in Phibsboro or Dublin 7/8 in the next couple of years.

We'll definitely start going around to schools now, I had no idea that the primary schools had such long lists. I can't believe your seven yr old is being interviewed already for secondary! It's scary how far in advance you have to start thinking when you have a sprog.
