Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

buying a kit off of komplett.. trying to only spend around 300

can get a celeron kit for less than that

any other cheap processors good for performance?

If you are really going to edit on a PC, get a P4.

Celerons are designed for office environments. Word processing, printing, internet, and the occasional bit of photography. Don't push them any further. Get a Pentium 4, an Athlon XP or an Athlon 64

    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/sempron.html

Have a look around www.anandtech.com as well.

For certain tasks Celerons aren't too bad. For instance for mpeg encoding its raw clock cycles that count, not cache size or instruction set extensions. On a budget though I'd probably go Athlon, as overall system performance should be better.

I recommend you get two hardisks for editing big files - thats more important than even cpu. One for source and one destination.

    “Roll it back”
