I find it distracts me too much. Sometimes I get bored and put on some music. But I usually just turn it off after a few songs! I multi-table though, so I guess if I didnt it wouldnt be so bad. I remember reading that Erik123 won the world online poker championship (or something like that - some big event at the time) while watching about 5 episodes of the Sopranos!

    I was just kidding, dammit!

I think you gotta choose the music well, poker music.

The Pogues worked very well during some online omaha on the weekend(although I was getting monsters). I'm a fan of Johnny Cash while playing poker as well.

Towards the latter stages of a tournament you have to choose some crazy all-in style music like some Sergio Leone western style soundtrack. Beware though, all the trumpets kicking in DOES NOT!!! mean that you are obliged to call.

    Sergio Leone western style soundtrack.

You mean the great Ennio Morricone. Anything by Ennio is No 1 poker music imho. PL Omaha and the Per Qualche Dollaro in Piu sountrack work wonderfully well together! After that give me a bit of the Omen soundtrack (better for home game atmosphere though) or some nice chillout d&b, anything off Bukem's Good Looking label fits the bill for me.

At what point do we call oversize and intrusive signatures obnoxious and out of order (not to mention pimping). Is there a size limit? If yes can we make it smaller?

I don't know, I'll prob have an oversized Warpcon sig when I get around to making one, but since it's an event that raises circa 20K for charity through various means (including a charity poker tourney) I would hope people wouldn't have a problem with it.

    Now that said,

I listen to upbeat bouncy music while playing online and am generally making use of my dual monitor setup to do some browsing or watch a film. I play multiple tables on automatic (cash games not tournies) and turn over a bit of profit while doing it. If i'm in a tourney I generally have music on and am playing another cash game simultaneously, but I wouldn't be surfing or watching a film, since tourney's require me to think more.

But playing low stakes no-limit or limit can be profitable played on automatic. If I decided to play a higher stake game i'd generally just play one table and concentrate on it, but theres no point in concentrating heavily in a 1/2 game since most of the players on the table won't act in a predictable fashion since they have no idea of the stats or relative hand strenghts.

Is this the general consensus? Because I dont want to have said effect. I actually thought it may be a bit big, but others have avatars around the same size as mine, so I thought why not.

Got pointed towards the hide signature option in the control panel, so I no longer mind :)

Heh heh. Yeah but I dont want to be pissin people off. Even though I dont really see why it would, but since you brought it up I'm obviously interested in what others think.

good call on korn Iceman, a bit of aggressive bagpiping really gets the blood running.
