    can you install programs?
install trillian if you can, that "usually" gets by proxies

if not install mirc and http tunnel, http://www.http-tunnel.com/html/
add the server your connecting to into the tunnel program and away you go,

affaik they only let trafic through at dial up speed so fine for chatting, not downloading

trillian i doubt would get irc thru a http proxy.....

just just matrix/maths depending on ur acc's..... http tunnel is a bit effortfull for my liking....but then again i won't use the windows machines in college cause it takes too long to login..

it happens when theres more than five people using the same IP on quakenet - basically the server thinks you're all clones and so boots you.

well just choose random servers? i was using the finnish one the other day.

yeah but you're still dealing with the same "@netsoc.tcd.ie" ip range - its an anti-flood measure. could be combatted by Netsoc getting a trust with quakenet, but iirc the problem is the lack of ident.

you were right its the ip thing, which a trust would solve, ident don't really come into it......you could ask brian to setup some more of netsoc's ips on matrix...

*shrug* last time i talked to Ronin he said that netsoc had requested one and that "under quakenet rules blahdy blah" - so the thing re the ident is just second hand info :)

PM the Opers regarding a Trust, and get the admins of maths/matrix to follow the guidelines on www.quakenet.org.
    You'll need identd running though.
