Anybody with the 'enhanced' service here? Line speed is now 4MBit, but actual download speeds are still 2MBit. Checked this on 4 seperate lines in New Ross and Donegal.

Yeah connected at 4Mb here too but only getting 250KB/s (used to get about 210KB/s).

Anything over 85% effeciency is very good due to the built in data checking.

    2048 x 0.85
    = 1740kbits/s

So above that would probable be rare.

Same as azezil here. 2m/bit power. Really noticeable difference, even just browsing. Logged into work computer and 4m/bit power there!

That's fair enough Azezil but what i wanna know is why is my Downstream showin 1.3Mbps? That's weird because:

    (a) i'm supposed to be going up to 2MB
    (b) it's not affecting my download speed at all

Is this sorta thing showing on anyone else's router not currently upraded?

Definitley something up on the Celbridge exchange. Router is showing a 1MB connection but the bandwidth tests are showing DIALUP speeds

    http://www.irishisptest.com/bandtest/results.php?kbps=54.1&downloadtime=10.75&KB=71&recorded=1

Anybody know what the story is or the best place to find out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,330 ✭✭✭radiospan

If you have been upgraded to 2MB, then 1.6Mbps or 1.7Mbps is the maximum you can expect from the speed tests. If you get around 1.67Mbps then your connection is running at full speed.

    2MB divided by 10, multiply by 8 = 1.6
(there are 8 bits in a byte)

That reading is from a bandwidth site and as others said it's already upgraded to 2mb. If u want to see that nice shiny 2mb number goto ur router page and check it out. Here's mine @ 3, /hurrah!
