    Apparently UTV arent upping their caps according to their jobsworth tech support person.

    Any idea what their current upload cap is?

    I get 2.12

    I don't get near my 3 megabit but it's still wicked fast, and hopefully will get faster.

    yeah, thats more accurate, getting 1.72 with 99% quality and 102K upload :-) Nice test indeed.

    Also, the speed rating at the beginning of browser based downloads are higher than actual, since it downloads straight away, yet the rate timer starts when you select the destination location, give it at least 30-60 seconds to settle.

    DU Meter has a good stopwatch, giving you maximum and average in both directions

    Since people were reporting issues with the speed test on IrishISPtest.com I changed the testing script to use a java based one:
    http://www.irishisptest.com/myspeed/

    Hopefully the results will be more satisfactory for people :)

    Feedback appreciated

    Havent a clue but for uploads with esatBT you get:

    8GB -> Basic
    16GB -> Plus

    From research and practice their is an independent cap for the upload as well as an independent cap for the download.

    Example,

    Plus package,
    Downloaded 13.5GB in a month
    Uploaded 5.5GB in a month
    That wont, AFAIK, exceed your cap as you have both download and upload under 16GB.

    I would assume that this is the same situation for UTV.

    Looks nice. My (supposed) 1024/128 comes up as 603/109.
    Quality of service - 56% <-- What does this mean?

    Theres no upload cap with utv.

    Quite nice, but
    kbps = 1000 bits/second Mbps = 1000000 bits/second

    For shame...

    Your Download Speed is 859kbps
    upload speed is 104 kbps
    Quality of Service 99% (what is this?)
    Round Trip 4532ms
    Max Pause 79ms

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,645 ✭✭✭Shrimp

    My download speed is 203kbs..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 994 ✭✭✭JNive

    correct :-) the above conversion is based on storage terminolgy and should be corrected,

    kbps = 1024 bits/second Mbps = 1048576 bits/second ( 1024 kbps )

    :-)

    :(

    My router says 2048/128, but Blacknight's speedtest says 929/72 and I can only download at about 10KB/s. A big WTF there? I've been up/downgraded to a 128kbps connection!??

    I'm on IOLBB+ in Huntstown (Blanch exchange). Not happy. I want the 256 upload and 200KB+ download.

    There is no 256 upload. It's 128 and not changing.

    I'm also on the same exchange and on Esat as far as I can figure out there has been some major network problems in Dublin I'm going to wait until Monday night before I start phoning up and complaining, hopefully it will be sorted out by then :mad:

    UTV Clicksilver plus ... supposed to be upgraded to 2mb...

    UTV still haven't told us customers what they are doing ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 999 ✭✭✭cregser

    I had previously powered off/on my router, but now I reset the ADSL line from my router configurator.

    Speed test now gives 1.72Mbps/106kbps and I'm downloading at 164KB.
    It's better, but I want more!

    where are you getting the upload speed and other info you've posted? All I can see is the download speed (which in my case is a scabby 387kbs on a 1Mbit connection). I'm also with UTV and I think it's rediculous that there's been no news from them about the upgrade or any info on caps etc. They've gone from having the best Customer Service to one of the worst. Even €ircon are easier to deal with these days, and that's saying something!

    Yeah customer service isnt very good. I rang them today and a jobsworth said that all lines had been doubled but he said "as far as I know caps remain the same".

    EDIT: Upload speed is the number below the Download speed on that link.
