Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    A few projects have sprung up that are looking to create databases of Wireless Access Points so that they can be used as references for locating your self. The main two are:

    http://www.herecast.com

    http://www.placelab.org

    Place Lab is the more complex of the two and aimed at devlopers. Hearcast is aimed at any one with a Laptop or PDA and is very simple to use. Install it, fire it up it will scan the local access points and then promt you to tag a loction to the Access Point. Next time you walk in to that AP it will recognise it and know where you are. It has links to maps and has frind finding features. Worth a look its pretty useless unless people use it and upload AP info to the main DB.

    Problem with herecast is that there is a total of one piece of info for The Dublin area!!

    Actully I think the project may be dead, not sure. Unless people put data in it aint gonna work :)

    Yeah I think it may be, none of the ones i upoaded went ito the database. Tis a really good idea though. Pity.

    I just spent all day building maps for UCD and scanning for access points using placelab. I can upload my mapwads here if anyone wants them. My access points can be downloaded through placelabs server.
