Insuring a second car in your own name

Has anyone got any advice when it comes to insuring a second car in your own name? I think you can only apply your no claims to one policy at a time, which means the second insurance starts from scratch. I don't want to do this given the nature of the cars involved. Neither qualifies for classic insurance either.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience of this, or knows of any company that specialise in it.

I was considering getting a second car a while ago and when i rang up the insurance company they did advise that my ncb only applied to the current car and the new car would have been a start from scratch job. Sorry i dont know any company who specialises in this type of insurance

I have two cars insured with AXA. I took out a 2nd policy a few months ago. The second policy is a bit cheaper than the first, presumably because having a second policy doesn't really increase my chances of having a crash (as I can only drive one car at a time and don't have any named drivers) Also, I have a full NCB on my main policy and I think they're allowing me the equivalent of a full NCB on the 2nd policy too. So in my case, I didn't have to start from scratch with the 2nd policy.

I know someone who had a battle with AXA over this and they eventually applied the NCB to both policies. I presume both policies would have to be with AXA in that case?
