    sorry but what is com1 what do they do and to ye know when broadband will be available in claregalway in galway

    COM1 is a serial communications port for low speed communications with internal/external peripherals :-).

    A dial-up modem, mobile usb data cable, IrDA, or a number of other things use these ports.

    Nothing to do with broadband :-).
    For Broadband services, and availability, have a look down through a few threads.
