Utv Clicksilver Plus Upgrades

    I have an account with yourself with Clicksilver Plus

    I have checked my bandwidth speeds which where supposingly upgraded

    Download speed 729 kps
    Upload speed 104kps

    My download speed should be around the 1.7mb and my upload at 200kps

    Can you let me know if I have been upgraded and if so why the slow
    speeds ?

    Also I have noticed you are brought in new connections for Northern
    Ireland users where there is no cap

    Can you let me know when you expect to bring this to the Republic ?

    Got the below response

    Hi there is an on going upgrade program by Eircom but bear in mind that
    this is depending on your exchange being capable. The roll out is due to
    end early next week so keep an eye until then. Regarding caps we have no
    plans at the moment to amend.

    Still blaming Eircom I see

    Is UTV uncapped in the UK????

    Yes they have two uncapped products 512 and 1024, i also remember reading that NI customers had 256 upstream.

    Yeah all the BT network was initially set at 576k download and 288k upload.
    Using those values they get only slightly less than 512k/256k.

    Well at least we can gloat that they dont have a 2mbit connection for the time being anyway.

    They sell the 1mbit with 8GB cap for £22.99(~€32) and its €29.99 here!!!
    £27.99(~€40) for 1mbit Uncapped!!!
    Why dont they offer 1mbit uncapped here for €40 here?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
    The purchase of extra GBytes wholesale cant be much different from the UK if they can afford to sell their 1MBit package for less here even though they pay more to eircom for the lines here than with BT!!!

    Or do we on average download a lot more here than there?!?!?!?

    For the moment I would not be too harsh on UTV for the speed problems as there are reports on boards of users of Eircom, iol and Clicksilver experiencing problems as a result of the upgrade. I do think thought that UTV could be a little more proactive in keeping their customers informed on what Eircom are saying is the cause of the problem and what date is being given for their resolution.

    And the upload for Clicksilver plus is 128k.
