The performance is patchy too. Not too bad down, about 700-800kbps, but up it's something like 250kbps.

Not sorted yet, i'm still in "testing" at the moment. I plugged the PoE box directly into my computers ethernet card this morning, and as far as i can tell, it hasn't messed up yet, but give me at least til tomorrow to see if it messes up or not.

That Bray problem has gone away.

I'm beginning to think this wireless stuff isn't viable/reliable in a point to multipoint configuration. Perhaps I'm drawing too many conclusions but it's an implication of some of the stuff Old Titan has said too. A heavy user or users can simply lock out other users from the high site. A standard wireless AP problem of course and IBB's equipment seems pretty good at dealing with it but it does happen on occasion. I suspect with higher bandwidths it's likely to happen even more. A service that goes tits up every so often isn't of much use to me.

Since this is the 3rd time my conn has completely died, there probably aint much point in posting again, but It was suggested that i try it one more time. The last 2 times IBB support have fixed my conn (thanks to OldTitan :P) it lasts for a few days and then dies again. Last straw really posted a few pings I tested out in another thread but ill post em here again

My connection is dead since yesterday :(
and tech support is closed till tomorrow :(:(

Anyone on thew three rock mast having trouble connecting?

i wasnt home yesterday and my laptop went a bit mad and has racked up 1.74Gb dl and 2.95Gb upload would that have anything to do with it? I'm on breeze 1Mb looking at the history that by far the most uploading ive done.

Has anyone else got problems from SIAC? My packet loss is dreadfull and download speeds non-existent. I have to say that the reliability of IBB is terrible, and it always happens at the weekend when you don't even have the option of holding for twenty minutes to speak to "Customer Service" Last time though, I managed to get some one on Friday at about twenty to eight, they acknowledged the problem then buggered off home for the weekend.

    Connecting from Glasnevin -

Since wednesday ( evening I think ) my connection has been erratic - good for 5 min then nothing... then awfully slow.... has there been any changes that could account for this as my home setup is unchanged.

Thanks in advance for any info

  • Registered Users Posts: 348 ✭✭PaddyofNine

Connecting off the RTE mast here, I think...

Got my IBB package installed last Friday week and have been very happy with it in general.

However, in the last 4 days it's been very erratic, on and off the whole time. It's a pain in the ass to be honest. I use the internet a LOT for college, and it's incredibly frustrating. I dunno. I hear tell that all of us on the Breeze residential package might be upgraded to the 2Mb package, so I'm hoping (A) that this is true and (B) these little hiccups will be worth it in a week or two!

    Anyway....

Seriuos problems tonight !!! Anyone got a response from IBB why ? the tech support says there is router problems !!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 732 ✭✭✭elmer

i noticed that the backhaul from bray seamed to go down this afternoon - the connection was rerouted via 3rock and rte transmitters(to get to inex) - it certainly didn't look nice with 630ms hops in the trace for a while. but it looks decent enough atm.

definately a little slower than usual. that said my connection to ibb has been great, i've yet to try using it for voip though

    Nige

it seems that ibb are having some more issues again, my connection in the knocklon area (tallaght mast) i think is probably the one, has had a constant 10% packet loss from 4:30am this morning till whenever this post was made.

i also have access to logs of another ibb connection elsewhere on athoer mast and my friend is having the exact same problem.

(i run smokeping from elsewhere in the world to monitor my connection) its probably the first time that i have had crap problems like this since i got the service.

Howya Wise man. Ive had a great connection up to now but the whole thing went dead as of yesterday. There is only one led lit on the radio. The ethernet light isnt on. Can I pm you my details and can you take a look at it? I got my mate to ping me but he didnt get a response. When I called IBB they said everything was ok...

Wiseman: Are there plans for a price reduction for existing customers? A friend of mine has been offered Breeze 2MB (2MB/2MB) 24:1 for €40.00 per month and a €149 installation fee. I'm in a contract paying €48 a month for a 1MB connection! :(

My understanding is that IBB will still have a 1MB product for e35pm (Incl. VAT). They have introduced 48:1 contention and a 30GB cap.
