Heard it on the radio a minute ago. Apparently the Dublin Tourist Board (DTB) have been extremely successful and managed to get Dublin to the top 3 european city break locations.
Meanwhile tourism outside the captial tourism has dropped. The Irish Tourist Board (ITB) are now apparently going to close down DTB which it owns. The reason seems to be due to it's success according to the radio. There sems to be some tight lips on the matter so nobody is sure what the reasoning is only that it goes agains standard economic logic.
It appears begrudgery against Dublin may cost us all in the end. Anybody got more details or seen anything else?

I actually heard this on the radio about a fortnight ago.

Insane if it's true! I can't believe it is.

Do they realise Dublin isn't competing with Connemara or the Shannon River cruises. It's competing with London, Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona etc.

If they close Dublin Tourism, it is these European cities that will benefit, not Ireland.
