Just checking out what kind of fuel economy people are getting from their cars with regards town driving. Can you provide information such as how many miles to a full tank you get and what it costs to fill the tank.

    Cheers.

    I've a VW Golf 1.6 petrol. Full tank is 54.45eur at 99cents/litre.
I get about 385 miles for that which I think is dismal.

Can you provide information such as how many miles to a full tank you get and what it costs to fill the tank.

From around €45, I get about 300 miles from a 1.6 Skoda Octavia. The trip computer shows an average of 28mpg in town and about 35mpg on the open road.

From about €35 I get about 200 miles from my Citroën DS. I work it out as about 19mpg average, rising to about 23mpg on long motorway trips.

I used to get around 35mpg from a 1.0 Seat Ibiza in town, and about 20mpg from a 2.0 Alfa 156.

I have a heavy right foot.....

    Two cars

(Wifes) - 1.6 Civic cost to fill = €30. City = 37 MPG, Long run 48MPG. So the dash claims. Will get about 350 miles on a tank.

(Mine) - 2.0 Civic cost to fill = €35. City = 30 MPG, long run about 38 MPG. Get about 300 miles on a tank.

All depends on how you drive I suppose. :)

My car tells me I do 100km with 4.7 litre on average of 47kmh on diesel. Light comes on about 600 miles on 60 litre tank around €45-48 depends where I fill the tank. Sweeeeet :D
    I drive 1.6HDI 110hp.

[edit] Changed my car's display from km to miles to see the conversion. 60mpg on avearge speed of 28mph. [/edit]

On a full tank of about €44.00 @ 97.9c per litre of diesel, I get c.440 miles from a 2.0 TD Primera .... I'm happy with that considering I was getting 240 miles in the 1.25 Fiesta for €35.00!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 51,239 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

    03 Avensis 1.8 - 340 mile range - €50 full tank @ 95.9 per litre.

MPG - 29/30mpg in town, 35mpg on the open road.

    So says the computer anyway.

Wow my primera seems to be doing very well for a pertrol car :D Glad i bought it.
anyway the lower scale would be urban.. the higher is the open road.

01 Mondeo 1.8 Petrol €35 gets you approx 260 - 270 miles, I thought this was a bit crap and was regretting getting petrol over diesel but looks like it could be worse :). Dont know the mpg on it but this is for motorway and city combined. Must fill it up next tim I've a good few quid and see what it gets me.

Also: 98 1.5 vtech Honda Civic €33 to fill it at 95.9 and get 310 miles exactly which aint bad.

    Opel Vectra 1.9 Diesel - 550miles for a full tank - about 45mpg.

Tank cost is about 48euro... depends where i fill.

By my calculations (and i'm open to correction) thats 6.81 ltr's per 100km.

'93 Renault Safrane 2.0 Manual - Generally about 400 miles on a full tank which costs about 65 euro at 97.9c
26.5 mpg on average, bit over 30 mpg open road and as little as 11/12 mpg around town.... All in all pretty crap especially as it's driven easy :(
Drove a '00 Yaris on my daily commute where the Safrane does 25/26mpg and the computer in the Yaris showed 49.7 MPG for the trip!!!

2000 Volvo S40 1.9L Turbo , 25mpg is about average for me. I used to get more like 28mpg but now I do mainly city driving.

2003 Renault Mégane 1.6 auto 28mpg in town around 45mpg on a trip to Wexford

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,393 ✭✭✭BrianD3

According to the trip computer, I get 44mpg average from a 2003 Renault Laguna 1.6 petrol. My driving is 90% open road, 10% urban. The tank holds 68 litres so that works out at around 660 miles per tank. The low fuel light comes on with approx 60 miles remaining and I usually fill up when it comes on. So that makes around 600 miles between fills.

I've two vehicles driving at the mo..

1972 Reliant Scimitar GTE overdrive (3Ltr V6) being a gt it has a big tank about 60 litres I think. Does between 22-25mpg apparently, haven't checked.

1979 Chevrolet G30 van (5.7Ltr V8) Helga my cross between a passion wagon and the A team van has an even bigger tank (75 litres) but needs it, she drinks petrol like Father Jack drinks whiskey. Does 12-15mpg  apparently .....but.........it'll be converted to LPG soon.
One being a classic and the other being a campervan means I pay less for tax and insurance combined than if I drove a 1 litre micra or scarlet. I might buy a lot of petrol but at least I'm getting something for my money! :D;)

Banjo013 - That's terrible economy - What do you drive?

Myself, 1998 Ford Scorpio 2.3 auto

To keep with the general imperial flow of this thread, avg 22MPG. This is about half urban, 1/4 motorway. 1/4 suburban. ABout 32MPG on long motorway journeys. Under 20MPG around town.
70L tank will last maybe 300 miles :(
    But it's worth it ;)

    96 Skoda Felicia estate

My dad drives with a very light right foot, and has gotten 67mpg from a peugeot 406 2.0 hdi. Its a 70 litre tank, this works out at roughly 1100 miles.
Even with me driving, the car gets 900 miles to a tank. ( though the tank costs almost €70.
