Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Realy Story Why Hardy Was Let Go!

In a stunning move, which could almost be described as morally reprehensible, WWE announced it was firing Matt Hardy on April 11.

Hardy was training the day before, doing all out matches with partner Krazy K, when he got a phone call from John Laurinaitis, to inform him the WWE was exercising the 90 day option in its contract and letting him go. While he was not told the real reasons, which were obvious, he was simply told that the WWE wanted to try out new talent. Hardy will continue to get paid through the first week of July, at which point he would be free to work for TNA, if he so chooses. He may be allowed to work in Japan or on independent shows before that, and there has already been interest expressed from Japan for him and Terry Gerin (Rhyno).

A hardy boyz reunion on independent shows would be a short-term big draw, but Jeff Hardy has turned down almost all independent offers and has no interest in wrestling much beyond his infrequent TNA TV commitments. Matt Hardy could likely get, at least for the first six months, $1,500 per indie shot and work as many weekend dates as he would want, plus make a killing in photos. Even after six months, he probably would get a decent amount of bookingds at that price and get constant work with a $1,000 price tag.

Due to the nature of how this has gone down, it's expected Matt would debut with a lot of momentum should he go to TNA. Friends of his had even talked in the last year, when Matt was frustrated about the lack of push, about him leaving at the end of his contract and promoting independent shows in the Carolinas. Hardy had been cleared a few weeks ago, to return to the ring after undergoing reconstructive knee surgery in September of last year. Like with many, his return was held up because the company didn't want to start people on television before Wrestlemania, plus in his case, decisions had to be made. Most were expecting Hardy to be switched to Smackdown upon his return.

Hardy was fired, winding up as the fall guy in a three-way love triangle involving former real life good friend Adam Copeland (Edge), and long term girlfriend Amy Dumas (Lita). Hardy and Dumas, who had been together for six years, and were living together in Hardy's house, broke up in February when Hardy heard Mobile phone messages from Adam Copland (Edge) on Dumas phone, which she hid from Hardy. Dumas, 29, admitted it was true, after having denied it weeks earlier when Hardy, 30, had been called by Copeland's wife in January to warn him. Hardy kicked her out of the house, and when he took all of her photos off his web site, rumours started flying about a break up. The story got out on the internet a few weeks later, and led to Edge and Lita getting catcalls at many of the WWE's live shows, and the WWE having to confiscate signs off fans at it's TV tapings regarding the two. At many TV shows, the chants were very audible and at times were loud, with the most notable being the catcalls and "slut" chants at the two at the recent Hall of Fame ceremonies just before Wrestlemania 21.

Hardy was blamed by the WWE for the story getting out, and more, because of him posting by name about the story, although not in detail, including the line, "Adam Copeland is feces," on his web site. This happened weeks after it had become public knowledge. WWE officials did talk to him about the feces remark. Vince McMahon did call him once personally about the situation, but that was a number of weeks ago, and the feeling was that everything had been smoothed out after the conversation.

Hardy even sent a videotape with an idea for a new version of his character to HHH before this all broke. HHH was said to have loved it. While WWE would have the intellectual property rights over his "V1" and "Mattitude" characters and lines, he was planning on going ina completely different direction anyway. He had no inclination this was coming and was said to be stunned, as were most in the WWE.

Hardy was something of an Iron Man when it came to his resiliency in taking abuse, including in dangerous TLC matches without a serious injury, until his knee blew out last July, Since he was let go the WWE has received significantly more negative e-mail on his being let go then any one of late.

There's a petition going around now trying to get the WWE to take him back, doubt it'd do much good though.

You said Matt Hardy sent a videotape to HHH for a new character for him, do you know what it was?

There is no way Matt Hardy should ever go back to the WWE. He has been treated like sh*te and a move to NWA/TNA would be the best for him. I'm sure there will be a Hardy Boyz reunion very soon so there are positives from everything.

Wasn't it rumoured a couple of months back that Matt would be returning as Version 2 since he was taken out as Version 1? I imagine that could be it.

Apparently it was to be a whole revamp.

Well, the whole idea of Version 1 was that it was the true Matt Hardy, not the version he had been up til then. So his previous persona would have been a sort of Version 2. Version 1 was a great gimmick though, he really should have been pushed higher. Pity he can't use it anymore now

This was posted up on Matt Hardy's official message boards by Lisa Copeland, Edge's estranged wife.
