Songs for Grad mass?

OK, every other school in the country is so much more organised than ours.

We don't have a Grads Committee or anything. The last day in RE we didn't even discuss music. Apparently it's all in the hands of the choir, which consists of the PLC Music Class, so it should be good. Basing this on past Masses in school, it will be religious: As I Went Down to the River or something.

I can't imagine the need for a tearjerker. It's not as if you'll never see these people again (unfortunately).

No-one has mentioned the fact that come June, we, all of us here on the Boards LC forum, will no longer be the same group. We'll be disconnected!

It's as if we're all graduating from the forum, in a way...

    phil collins - true colours
fleetwood mac - can't remember the name but u will know it, its really famous. Brutal choice anyhow.

I'm trying to convince the others to have "I've Got your back" by Mic Christopher, but very few people know it. Other suggestions are "Hakkuna Matata" from the Lion King and "May the Road Rise to Meet You". This whole grad song thing is driving us mad, we all have such different tastes and opinions...

that would be a good song if it had to be religious based.

Haha yeah, I hadn't thought of that! Any regular boards users will probably still be kicking around the other forums though

We're singing "looking back over my shoulder" CHEESE!!!
and "oró sé do bheatha bhaile"
we're not having a mass, think it'll be some kind of service alright though.
Its not like theres anything to celebrate yet, we'll be back in school in another week or two anyway !!

Im ashamed to admit this...... I would like people to know that my loud objections were completely ignored when they chose it
This year weve got TIME AFTER TIME-oh the shame, the SHAME!!!
I think id leave in protest if I wasnt leavin the place already.

P.s For anyone whos lucky enough not to know the song its the one from strictly ballroom "If you fall I will catch you ill be waiting....time after time....."

our's is James Taylor- You've got a Friend
its ok, but its kinda downery :(
we originally had "you+me always" (ya no the one from Romeo+Juliet)
but the teachers changed it cos they said it was about "lovers"
one of my ideas was green day "waiting", the words are quiet appropriate! "time of your life" is overdone (and isn't it about suicide?)

We've already had ours. We had a mass in the Church first and then back to the school for entertainment and awards. Our songs were Saints and Sinners (the line "you know I wish we had more time" was great!), Live Forever and Star Star. Then we all went out, had a lock-in in the pub, then went to a house party! Was a really brilliant night.

    Interlude --> Stairway to Heaven.

Final song --> 74-75 (who sang this? -- the O'Connells?)... but change the lyrics to 2004-2005,... it's a cool song and lots of feeling in it.

We are having "The Graduation Song" (never heard it, but by all reports it is sickeningly sentimental), but not at the end of the Mass. As no-one in our year is willing to sing, a#it is being played on CD as we enter the Hall.

It's tomorrow night, and I cannot wait for it to be over. It is the most sentimental piece of ceremonial rubbish anyone ever came up with.

eve the apple of my eye would be wicked!
we did three little birds "dont worry bout a thing cos every little things gonna be all right"
have to admit i was doubtful about it, but it was brill
have one solo singin it unaccompanied
then add a beat with a drum
then get everyone to join in
i dare you not to cry during that song, cos even tho its not mushy its jus perfect!
i hope you dance is a good song too

We graduate on Wednesday. I'm in the choir and we're singing:

1.You've got a friend in me - From Toy Story :o
    2.Forever young - Bob Dylan
3.I hope you dance - Dunno.. Shh
4.In my life - The Beatles
5.Ain't no mountain - From Sister Act.

I think most of the songs are pretty s**te.. If it was up to me we'd all be moshing to manowar! ;)

I graduated last Thursday... thought we were among the last. NICE ONE! :D

We chose oasis wonderwall. May seem boring but we sang it on our last day and it just kind of clicked.
we did consider alright by supergrass but the teachers wernt fond of it
    Try checking out:
send me on my way - rusted root
the sky is still blue - andrew belle
    Hayday - mic christopher
My advice is to try to choose an upbeat song if you can because it may prevent some tears while slow, deeper songs kind of spur them on.

You wouldn't happen to go to a certain school in M******** by any chance?
