XDA IIs on Vodafone Ireland

I am currently looking at getting an XDAIIs and i was told (by a vodafone store agent) that the XDA 1 did not work well on Vodafone. he said he never heard of the IIs (the one with the slide down keyboard) but reckoned that because the 1 dident work, the 2 wouldent either (great theroy :rolleyes: ). Anyone know if the IIs will work on vodafone? im on a bill so i have all settings, but i dont want to drop £179.99 plus pay a contract of £16 a month and find it doesent work here.
