Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Just noticed that Mike Reily has replaced Graham Poll as ref for this one. So what price on a penalty to man u today(thought i would say it before someone else referred to it)

Yellow card to Ronaldo for diving for a penalty

    Worst ...........Dive............Ever

Was he not quoted in the paper during the week saying he'd given up the diving?

Aye, even Newcastle did. Surprise to see him give one the other way. Right decision though, fair fúcks to him.

It was pre-planned. Hoping Riley had read that, he'd presume it actually WAS a penalty :)

Its been a lively first 10 mins for Man U. The decision was absolutely spot on not to award a pen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

Terrible dive, deserved a card for that, great decision by the ref.

Just imagine how different this season would have been if Rooney had been booked against Arsenal for his dive instead of getting a peno! Anyway thats probably for another thread.

Good lively start to the game by United.

Ameobi unlucky not to be in there, a harsh free against him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

Very harsh thanx 4 the fish, I hate having to cheer Man United on but if newcastle win they get a Uefa spot that will otherwise go to 7th.

Very good first half display by Man Utd, to be honest though Newcastle are having a nightmare. As was pointed out by Lawrenson, Rooney and Scholes are outstanding, Ronaldo is see plenty of the ball also. More of the same in the second half and newcastle coud be in for a hammering.

The usual defensive shambles from Newcastle. Still, it's nice not to be even slightly surprised, in a way...

    Great tackle from Rio

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Thats bad goal keeping from Howard :/

Made the exact same mistake against ARsenal for Berkjamp's goal, the 2nd from ARsenal in the premiership game a while ago. :/ He was doign well :/

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,048 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

    Milner for Kluivert 64mins

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,048 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

Game over newcastle are all over the place defensively

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

What was Carr doing, he stood looking at the two UTd players V one Defender in the middle until the ball came into Ronaldo, then decides to run and try cover, gobsh*te.

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,048 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

    Rooney, Ronaldo, and Scholes off

    Giggs, Smith, and Fletcher on

    Alll 78 mins

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,048 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

What does giggs look like with those tights on. What ever happened to wearing cycling shorts for hamstring injuries

What a quote by Mark Larwanson "that football match yesterday was a great advert for cricket" (Arsenal v Blackburn match)

Absolutely delighted bring on Arsenal, there is some hope left this season.

Good win for United. Newcastle were brutal especially first half.

United V Arsenal Final should be a cracker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,467 ✭✭✭smemon

too easy fo utd. roni & neville were up against literally nothing down the right side and as a result thats were the damage was done.

2 assists & a goal from ronaldo made up for his dive (however there WAS contact as his shirt was pulled, still wasnt a peno though). ruud back to his poaching best & looks sharp and scholes and keane as usual running things in midfield.

rooney played well imo and lead most of utd's counter-attacks. plus he just shrugged off any n'castle players that got in his way.

Ruud looks like he may be back :D
    Looked very sharp today.

    EDIT: spelling corrected :p

Long time no see Seamon.... :)

UTD were good but a non league team could have scored against that defense...

Roll on the Final and I hope Fergie/Wenger/Press keep there mouths shut and stick to the football (I really think Fergie can't resist the temptation though :()

    And another Howler from Newcastle.
thats two 4-1 defeats in a week.

The midfield gave no protection to the defence whatsoever!
    Amdy Faye...............Why?
Robert - He has got to go, cost us two goals, so lazy and thinks the entire game is played in the opposition half!
    Carr looked sluggish and lazy.
Milner looked like a player who hasn't being playing enough this season, no sharpness to his game, but thats not his fault.

The back four looked like four players that never played together before(I think that actually was the first time Carr-Taylor-Boumsong-Babyaro played together)
    No communication.

I will never understand why Souness was brought in, sure he is a good disciplinarian, but thats all. hasn't done anything but destroy teams in the premiership (Liverpool, Blackburn, Newcastle now.)

I hope sheephead only brought him in to see out the season.

    :Fume:

He was brought in to replace the entire squad this summer.
His signign of Boumsong was quality.

    ~*edit*

    Arn't I silly?

Boumsong is an ok defender ,its he's first season in england maybe we will see the best of him next season, but right now he's crap

i thought he was very good today considering, he made nearly all the important challenges in the first half for newcastle, he just got shafted about how useless the rest of the team where.. They would of had 5 or 6 in the first half if he wasnt for him. He was there to clear the ball for the first goal but slipped.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,982 ✭✭✭Big Ears

Boumsong is a very good defender who is alongide three hopeless defenders and 4 incompetent midfielders , him and Given don't have a chance of keeping out goals .

Thought United were fantastic today and if they stepped up a gear could`ve won by even more..the final should be some game....... :)

Excellent display by United, a keeper mistake for their goal, Rooney and Ronaldo were excellent today, if they played like that against Milan it would have been a different story.
Limited Newcastle to very little and controlled the match.
Ronaldos dive was typical, good to see the ref actually not given him a free/penalty for the dive.

    Should be a good final.

    .

they werent allowed play like that against milan though. NEwcastle were a joke at the back. Thats what made it easy for rooney and ronaldo. I dont think they played especially well, they were just up against a woeful team.
