Best FPS Weapon Ever?

Mine has to be the Quake 2 Railgun.....the meatiest gun ever produced in a game with the most satisfying sound effect ever.

What does anyone else think? The Quake 4 thread started getting me thinking about it.....

Hmmm, i might go mainstream and say the gravity gun from HL2... but ill vote slug launcher from soldier of fortune (for now)

1. Sticky bombs, shadow warrior (for pure comedy value)
2. double barrel shotgun, Doom2
3. Sniper Rifle, Goldeneye
4. M1 Garand, MOHAA and Call of Duty (the ping noise when a cartridge is finished is great)
5. .44 Silver Talon, SOF (average game but the first few levels were great when you were performing amputations with this weapon)
6. Rocket Launcher, Quake (over powered but very versatile)
7. Sub machine gun w/ grenade launcher, HL (very versatile)
8. Grenade Launcher, Shadow Warrior (the only decent GL in a FPS)
9. Rail Gun, Quake 2 (Was crap with it but very satisfying for kills)
10. Manipulator, HL2 (psychic powers in Psi-Ops are much more fun but nothing beats the hilarity this gun causes in a lan DM game)

The broken Butterfly from Resi 4 would be there if 3rd person games could be included

The pistol was way too powerful in multiplayer. Something like 5 shots would kill you. The pistol was banned from all MP games I've played with friends.

They adjusted it accordingly for Halo2, and now its appallingly rubbish.

Drunk missile launcher from rise of the triad

Light sabre's from the Star Wars fps's

Q2 rail gun. Bang, you dead.

Original Counter Strike carbine from cs # ? with zoom and silencer.

New favourite is the grenade launcher from Pariah.

Head shots still count with it though so if your aims good enough:
plasma pistol + human pistol = two shot kill.

I'll break with tradition here - which means no pansy-ass weapon everyone else has been putting forward...and my vote if the BFG from Doom.

What can I say, I'm easily pleased!
Seeing that green ball of energy burst forth, and then hearing a load of monsters suddenly turn to pulp! Immensely satisfying!

Honourable mentions have to go to:
Double barrel shotgun (almost any game it's in)
Rail Gun(Quake 3)/Shock Rifle(UT2004) and Sniper Rifles in general.

Oh, and the rocket launcher in Medal of Honor. Everyone running around with a rocket launcher...lots of explosive fun!

I liked the super enhanced gravity gun you get on the last level of HL2.
Its a lot of fun throwing desks and soldiers around the place.

Damn, I forgot about that one.....it would be awesome if it was introduced albeit a different name or something to a modern shooter....imagine the carnage!

DoubleBarrel Shotty from Doom2.
Lightning shaft from Quake.
The crossbow from HL2 (pinning people to the wall, I likes it! - pitty it was so under-used in the game)
Plasma Gun from Doom.

Probably my real faverite was the arse-gun I made for Quake... I replaced one of the weapons from the 'Ultimate' weapons mod, the one where the enemy gets blown away from you as if by a gust of wind... I replaced this weapon with a pair of 3d butt cheeks along with a home-made farting noise, bits of poo particles came out as part of the shooting animation... not to blow my own trumpet, but this was the best weapon of any FPS ever. (never released this because it was based on someone elses code/mod)

Flak Cannon from Unreal Tourney.
Double Barrelled Shotgun from Doom 2.
Shotgun from Half-Life 2.
M1 Garand from pretty much any games its in but especially in CoD.
Chainsaw from Doom(s).
All the weapons that can set people on fire from Timsplitters 2(set the weapons in multiplayer to only these firey weapons and prepare to have fun!).

Staff from Exhumed, I remember having greaf fun with that thing, though it was a bit crazy on the PC version, it didn't fire snakes....
I really liked Metroid prime plasma gun and the kick ass effect from killing things with a charged up shot.
My other favourite is the angry kitty from No One Lives Forever 2, not quite as big and flashy as a lot of weapons mentioned, but had great comical value and was great fun to use.
