Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Top teams. Credit the players or managers more?

When we see the likes of Real Madrid, Milan,Juve, Man U consistently competing for titles,do their managers get too much credit.

A team like Man U, and now Chelsea. Both Fergusen and Mourinho are good managers and deserve credit.
But teams like Real and Milan, are full of top class players and it would be hard for them not to be competing, maybe the players should get more credit.

I ask this because it seems to me that Milan are being held back by poor tactical decisions by Ancelotti. Against poor opposition they dominate, go 1-0 up when Ancellotti takes off a striker and puts on a defender and end up drawing, or last weekend against relegation battling Siena go 1-0 up, sit back again and lose 2-1. Now Juve are 3 points clear with 7 games left.
    Ancelotti should go!

In the majority of cases I would put it down to the players.. But then again, the players can only achieve so much without the motivation and decision making of a good manager.

Managers all the way obviously. They take the talent and direct it! Name a player who loves running back to defend!!!!

Have to say the manager - they are in charge of focusing the team. If they team is playing better then the sum of it's parts the manager deserves credit and if a team of superstars is in mid-table then you look to the manager again.

Of course the players are responsible too - they need to work with the manager, but again the manager picks the players so this is a reflection on him too. Also the board have a lot to do with it too though - if they back the manager and how often the manager gets replaced. If there's lots of management change then maybe the players have too much power and the manager never really gets a chance, Real Madrid being a possible example...

Ya i think id have to agree with the manager decision too..only need to look at what a shambles Real can be without a good manager (1st half o season) and then you get Luxumbargo who gets everyone pulling in the same direction and suddenly they're launching a realistic title charge (tho still hope barca win it)

Manager - Anyone who can win the Premiership with Didier Drogba, Alexei Smertin, Tiago and Jiri Jarosik is a miracle-worker of Jesus-like proportions!
