Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Drogheda United are on the verge of signing Republic of Ireland international Richie Sadlier.

Sadlier, 26, quit football in 2003 because of a persistent hip problem but is keen on making a return and has already verbally agreed a deal with Drogheda manager Paul Doolin.

At present, the striker is completing a University degree in Sports Science in London and will combine his studies and playing for Drogheda until June when he will return to Ireland full time.

Sadlier was one of Ireland’s great striking hopes when he was at Millwall but a series of hip injuries meant he never added to his one international cap claimed in 2002. He retired in 2003 and briefly worked as a player agent, head of recruitment for Millwall and as a pundit for Setanta Sports.
He was supposedly risking his long term health if he ever played again so must have got a second opinion. Good news and good luck!

    Hmm.

I hope he knows what he's doing, and doesn't injure himself beyond repair.

    Good luck to him.

Exactly, just hope he doesn't do any longer-term damage. He'll always have his fortnightly job at Setanta if not!

I thought he was working as a football agent or something ?? He must REALLY miss playing a LOT to play for Drogheda ( but I suppose they are gonna make it worth his while )

Has to sign Amateur forms as he can never be a pro again cos of the pay off.

Thats ****ing awesome to see someone at least try regardless of the level (tho that pay off would be a major factore)
