    Hi there

I am looking at starting my own business in Ireland, probably a basic Import company specialising in wine from outside the EU.
I am thinking of doing one of the University courses in entrepreneurship, but don´t know if they are worth the time and money committment.
To put it another way, I know of quite a few people who have done the UCD postgrad course, and none have succeeded in starting anything up.

Another option could be short courses at the other third level institutes..... could anyone recommend any good courses or resources.

I basically need to learn about international trade re imports and the various tax and import regulations that go along with such a business.

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies

    Michel :):)

You could spend money on a course...or you could research it yourself and / or get some consulting advice.

It's a specialised trade. Importing liquor is very different from any other type of import. You're unlikely to find a course that addresses it to any great degree (though I could be wrong). To be honest, if you really know very little about the practicalities of the industry, I'd say you'd be better to get a job in a bonded warehouse for the period than to do all those courses.

The other thing is to just try it. Try importing a case as a consumer and see how you get along.

I agree with Antoin - Get a job in an existing business for 6 months.
