Well I can't get into it at all!!! What is the make and model of your modems? I got the first one they where using, had to buy it myself, no such thing as a free modem back then! Anyway I am still getting 750/128ish speeds.

you need to be on the same subnet i.e. have a 192.168.100.x address. force an address on your network adaptor and connect to your cable modem directly.

it works fine with my 192.168.1.0 setup. didn't need to do anything with the router either

Nope. You should be able to connect to it, unless your router is specifically not allowing packets to that address/subnet through.

It could be your router - but it could be your firewall too.
What router and firewall are you running?
What do you get when you ping 192.168.100.1 ?

I'm using a D-Link 524 router. Using zone alarm as firewall (as well as router firewall).
    Pings time out to 192.168.100.1
thanks for your help guys, I know my way round a pc, but networks/routers just confuse me (only using router to source mp3's to my MP101)

    kin9pin

maybe ur firewall settings block ping thingy.
check if 192.168.100.1 is within trusted area.

yep tried that and no luck, even tried turning zonealarm off so it must be the router config. I doesn't matter too much, just bugging me because I can't access it.

also if you are using a proxy server it wont work

Login to your D-Link 524 (default IP 192.168.0.1)
    Click on the 'Advanced' tab
Click on the 'Filters' Button (left hand column of screen)
    - Is there anything listed under the 'IP Filter List'?
    - anything that might include 192.168.100.1 ?

Click on the 'Firrewall' Button (left hand column of screen)
    - Is there anything listed under the 'Firewall Rules List'?
